I'd concentrate on one side at a time but I guess that's really up to you. Thing is I'm guessing your tornado kicks aren't so hot based on those 540 attempts. Maybe you should post some of those. I'd really work tornados A LOT before just getting in the 540. Having good basics makes it a lot easier and the tricks based off them well look better too.

Hmm...well you have a decent amount of speed but that's largely because you're just slinging your body around hard. Really concentrate on the quality of the kick itself. Chamber your kick (bring it up slightly bent) and drive it through hard (extending it out completely as you hit the imaginary target in front of you). Get it nice and high too. I mean overall you're doing that okay but it still could use some work. Focus on a proper chamber and extension.
Another big thing is the rest of your body and it's positioning. You'll notice you sort of hunch/lean over as you're kicking. Keep your head and torso upright and lean back ever so slightly. Allow your body to be opened up for when you kick through. It's kind of a balance thing. I'd say you really just have to drill it more...watch good examples of the move and try to imitate it the best you can.
You have the basic form down but tweaking it will help a lot and much of that just comes naturally from getting used to the move and doing it faster and higher.
Chambering your kick versus bringing it up straight makes a huge difference in kick speed and it's overall apperance. Not to mention it makes the move easier, especially when trying to learn the 540.
As for your arms, the fast swing you make to the opposite side before bringing them across to turn and jump isn't necessary. You don't need to whip them around until after you're bringing them in the direction of the twist. Just kinda pull them over there and when you're ready to turn and jump, THEN whip them hard.
Another thing that'll look better and help with rotation is keeping your arms bent a little and close to your body as you kick. I made the mistake of not doing this as do many others when first working on tornado kicks and 540s. People still neglect this part of the move actually, even when having this move for a long time. By not keeping them next to you they sort of flail out on their own and it doesn't quite look as clean. And like I said, being tight helps you rotate more.
That's a lot of stuff I've spouted out but hopefully it'll help. I've been meaning to make my own version of a tornado/540 narrated tutorial for a while now and I think I'll actually plan on that sometime in the near future. Keep it up.

Thanks alot man. That info was really usefull to me. I will be trying this stuff out tomorrow. (i just tried some wierd new move and totally injured my leg. I heal insanly quick though. This move is like a stalled out side flip with a flash kick and I'm holding the other leg in the air.)
If you make a n.tutorial on the 540 people would probably get this move in a day if they put their mind to it. Thanks alot:smile:

Haha well it's nice to help. A day? That'd be pushing it. 540 has technical elements but from my experience as well as most others it's a big conditioning move. Even if you can apply most of the technique find, you might simply not have enough speed and power to land the move. It's something you have to develop with plenty of drilling. I have a good 540 now but it took me months to learn and many more to not ever lose it (because that happened more than I care to remember haha). There are people that can learn this move in a day but most of them are people with a heavy kicking MA background.

I wish I had heavy kick MA background. I tried the move and landed it. (But i'm still injured so I won't keep it instanly) The second I relized I landed it, I hook kicked and then aeriled. It was awsome. I will be trying this move all day tomorrow. Thanks again swart!

It doesnt really matter if you have a good kicking MA background. It still rely's on the person the most. But yeah, i guess it would help more than nothing.

TWIST YOUR HIPS!!!! I couldnt get a 540 for 2 months, then i saw jujimufu's tutorial and i realised that twisting your hips is what makes you land after the kick. I can do a real fine 540 now.
