I don't know. I psyche myself out to even try corks. Even when I get amped up enough to do gainer, it is straight, for some reason the J-step setup scares me. I'm going to the gym tonight. Think I should just throw moonkicks or whatever onto mats and go balls out? Or are there any special fear eliminators here?

Btw, I don't have a fear of going over backwards, I can flash kick, back tuck, x-out, etc... it's just that setup

It might be the one foot takeoff I don't know..:eh:

For a moonkick, a lot of people will tell you need a backflip. This isn't necessarily the case in practice, because all a backflip does is get you used to leaning back and getting your hips up and over.

But here's the thing: a moonkick might look like a flip, but it's not. It's just a really big torque move. So throw that first kick way up and then TORQUE. That why you do the j-step. To help those hips turn over so you can throw that hook.

If you have a foam pit, try moonkicking into that. If you DON'T have one, then watch a bunch of videos of moonkicks and corks. The videos will help you to visualize yourself doing this move. Then, if you're worried about crashing, just put padding on wherever you crash on the most.

Alright, go get that moonkick!

try from a scoot, jstep can be confusing. If you are confused with the jstep and do it wrong then you will lose height and power ie bailage. A scoot may help you get used to the feeling of swinging through into a gainer move and could help with the final stage of the jstep. Scoots are also easier to grasp.
