View Full Version : Question about Corking...
So I'm hitting up the gym tomorrow, and I'd like to give the cork a good 'ol try, but I'm not sure WHERE I should go about doing this. Should I use a Matt and try to tough out the jump reduction, or go balls to the wall and just start flailing around on floor? I think I understand the basic logistics of the trick, I just want to know where to start. Any advice would be highly appreciated ^ ^
I'm sorry if this has come up in other threads, I'm new at this forum thing...

You can do a moonkick, right? I mean, you don't NEED the moonkick, but it'll make your corkscrew development easier.
By the way, don't crash onto Matt. I don't think he'd appreciate it.
Haha I realize that this might help, but I only get to hit up the Gym once a week and I'm impatient. Bad tricking, I know XD looks like I've got more reading to do tonight than I thought *sigh*

like mike said you need a slant gainer, but not a shit one. Make sure you have a high moonkick that flows. Your leg and hips should lead the slant gainer all the way round and you should feel like the point of rotation is around your shoulders.
There is a point in a slant gainer where you arch over one shoulder. With a cork instead of arching you should wrap in order to spin. Make sure that your chin is on your chest towards the leading shoulder in the spin (this will help you to spin faster), also don't forget about your legs when spinning. The upwards power from the kick of the gainer shouldbe used to generate torque from the spin, your legs should feel as if they are wrapping towards the direction of rotation as much as your arms will.
I hope that helps
hope this helps you

if you have a spring floor to try it on then do it on there because then you can fall and not hurt yourself but at the same time you dont have a mat killing your hight. i hate mats

I would recommend to do your setup on a "hard" floor like plyo, but cork on a thin matt. Thats the way I do it right now and I'm happy with it. Once you got the principle of the trick you can still remove the matt.

whatever you do, DON'T arch your back or it will turn into a gainerfull. I learned them this way, and it took me awhile before I could do a real cork.
i can only help if there is a video for me to watch
haha, no video, haven't even really given it all that much effort as of yet, I just wanted to know where to start out. Plyo with a thin matt sounds about right, I'll hit that shit up next week. Thanks.^ ^

Gainer fulls are harder than just arching your back and doing one. Are you sure you weren't just doing a slightly more inverted cork?

The level of arch in your back doesn't change the level of inversion.
