Tornado kick help

Hey today was my first day of official tricking and well I started off with the tornado kick. So here are my very first attempts ever of the tornado kick. I would like any tips that can help me improve.

Until then, why not try a 360 Crescent? It's actually easier than a tornado kick.

Also, do cartwheels. Don't let people see you do them, though, because as Taegashi rightly points out, "they are very gay."

Ok I watched the vid and it looks fine to me, keep practicing to get more powerful, to jump higher, to go faster, to be more consistent etc. And then go for the 540

right now your height is fine, but focus on using your arms to get rotation, you are not even spinning 360 degrees. Your kick kinda goes up and down, you want it to be an arc from the point you SNAP it all the way across.

I thought it was pretty good. Your tornado kick has good speed, height and flexibility. You might end up being a legendary trickster if you stick to it.

Well, movie aint working for me, but i'll see if i can watch it from home instead, altho i have a few pointers; for a tornado kick, it may help to throw up your arms when you jump, and whip that leg hard and powerful, it will swing you around faster

Make sure you know where your target is. Start facing your target, then when you kick, kick that same target.

Right now you are doing the movements but not really in the right context.

Can nobody on this thread see he`s kicking in the wrong place ?

Ok man, you have some small things to fix, but you do have good extension as they said.

1. Stand facing your target with your arms up in guard (target being your camera).

2. Step out with your kicking leg (still facing your camera) and pivot 180 on your kicking leg, raising your non kicking leg up staying in guard, trying to keep your eyes on your target for as long as possible before you have to turn completely away.

3.From here, you need to turn your upper body to face your target again as you jump and bring your arms up high and stall your jump high, trying to come completely round to face your target, and KNEE the sky as hard as you can with your leg bent.

4. Pull your arms into guard as you snap your kick as high and fast as you can. You can either snap the target like a front kick, or roundhouse and follow through round so you come out, and pivot again after you land, coming back to face your target in the position you started with.


Right now, your kicking at a target behind your origional starting position, this will make it reallllyyyyyy hard to learn a 540 kick. So fix this early. The same apply`s to EVERY trick you do, so make sure you are allways kicking in the right place, with the full rotation.

Try these things and film again, it`ll probably be much easier aswell as better looking.

trust me

pivot fast with that non-kick leg
minimize foot-ground contact
jump off your toes + bring non-kick leg high before kicking

i find nice tornadoes easier to execute than nice 360s =/

And wtf, if you find a 360kick harder than.. anything.. to do, you should really practise your basic kicks alot. :-/.

i can do 360s, i dun find them juz as nice or clean as i find my tornadoes

they are probably that ugly or are lacking that nice feel in it that i sometimes dont even count it as im doing it right
