View Full Version : Repetitive stress injury
I think I'm fucked, my knee started hurting like a bitch whenever I exercised, so I got it checked out, and if the diagnosis is correct, I'm fucked. According to the Doc, I have a type of repetitive stress injury called Osgood Schlatters disease. If the doc is correct about the diagnosis and how bad a case i have, then i'll have to stop basically all strenuous physical activity, which means no tricking, martial arts, gymnastics, running, climbing the buildings on campus, riding my bike around campus, being a unicyclist in the circus arts club, squatting for Asian-style toilets for the next year at least. I'M GONNA TURN INTO AN OUT-OF-SHAPE FATASS! (not to mention I'll be bored as hell)

That sucks, but I wouldn't get depressed just yet.
It might not be as bad as the doctor thinks. I would personally go and see a physiotherapist and see what they have to say. Atleast they should be able to offer some rehabilitation if it is OSD.
Also, you can always do chinups, and other non-knee related exercises.
Cheers up.

heh, I'll try to be cheerful, I mean, hey, if I do nothing for the next year and the bone gets hard as rock , I'll be good to go for the next twenty years or so,
and I'm going to the physiotherapist next week

change how you trick
you're obviously putting entirely too much stress on your legs in your techniques. Just looking at your avatar I can see that you're smashing your 540 kicking leg into the ground, landing on the entire foot, and not pivoting your hips over at the end of the rotation
practice being lighter
well its not just from tricking also present are the results of falling off a ten-foot wall onto the knee and an ill-fated shin block in a TKD match, but yes, i see your point, and in the six months since i filmed that avatar my landing has become much lighter.
