idunno how ot insert images, but i freeze framed cico in a flare, and its absolutely disgusting. im guessing the muscles on his side are serratus muscles, but they look like dragon scales. u kno ur a god, when ur so jacked it makes ppl nauseous.

cico is insane, especially in person. but just how brazil owns everyone at the acro part of tricking, they also own everyone at the power side of bboying. guinho is prolly my fav powerhead. every combo both directions.

Ahh...Cico, the "real" italian stallion.

I found out about him a couple of years ago. Crazy power-head, and is extremely consistant. Personally, I prefer Hong10 and Ronnie [even Roxrite] over Cico; but then again, I'm not into power moves :eh:

roxrite always rocks right. lol. always wanted to say that.

i love my power movers but i love people with such flava and style. i mean in boston we got some underground assasins that got a lil name for themselves in the world circle but they should be alot bigger. trixta...friggen longest combos ever..bebo...pookie(pretty famous..but seems like he should be bigger),shinobi is on the come up..look out for him.

great now you guys got me wanting to have a bboy discussion.

Cool moves by Cico good bboy. But boring in the end! check out hong10 my fav. Bboy since 2002 when he joined the BOTY with Expression crew. Awesome! And in 2006 he won Redbull contest.

This is the links to his battle of this years Redbull contest:

Also alot of other good bboy where in this is shit like lilou:wicked:, Roxrite, Ronnie. Deff a site to check out!

I've never really been into power movers since it's not so much what bboy-ing is about, but hell yeah Cico deserves respect for being so good at what he does.

Personally I prefer power movers who are coming up with original power moves or uncommon transitions e.g. Bboy Kaku's headspins into 2000's or Lilou's threaded flares (yeah he's an arsehole but fuck it blew my mind when I saw them =/)

Are you an idiot? Seriously you can't know anything about bboying.. "..any gay footwork.." ? Omfg .. Ban me for this if need but... Bboying consists of many things.

1.Toprock (gay footwork)
2.downrock (knee drops and floor steps like: 6 step you prolly know what it is)
3. freezes ( I hope you understand what i mean by this)
4. power moves ( what this thread is about)

Theses are basics or a MUST!
All four very important. What you said is like saying: Extreme martial arts without the gay martial arts.. To bad you don't understand the toprock part.

Dragonic MiKe
Oct-06-07, 06:17 PM
What you said is like saying: Extreme martial arts without the gay martial arts.. Too bad you don't understand the toprock part.

But that's what tricking is: XMA without the gay martial arts. Hahaha.

But, yeah, It's true that I know next to nothing about breakdancing. However I see it in the same way that I see a womens gymnastics floor routine.

(stay with me)

When I'm watching a womens floor routine and it gets to the part where they just prance about and dance and stuff I'm just putting up with it until the stupid ho starts tumbling again.

For me (because I'm uneducated in the ways of bboying [and gymnastics floor routines for that matter]) footwork is a bit like the bit where the girl prances about.

So, you can see, watching Cico linking power moves back to back is (for me) like watching a gymnast just continually tumbling for their whole routine. Which is what I want to see.

It always amazes me that people into tricking can somehow not appreciate dance as well. I guess there's no accounting for taste. As a performer (of tricks, dance, balancing etc.) I can appreciate the "gay prancing" in women's floor and good uprock. I figured that tricksters are necessarily performers as well, otherwise why trick. Therein lies my mistake.

Hapkidoka
Oct-06-07, 08:44 PM
Fortunately, Dragonic Mike's ignorance does not represent the mentality of tricksters as a whole.

we all (bboy and tricksters) are truly performers. We both perform sometimes for personal reasons and some for just feel of people watching you. but we both dedicate alot of time and sacrifice alot...bboys sacrfice alot more than tricksters do, to be able to do their art. You don't hear about tricksters living in shitty apartments so they can teach a tricking class just for the fun of it.

Fist of all I wrote "extreme martial arts" not tricking, but I agree with that part.

Also I understand that power moves are more impressive than toprock. I understand that perfectly well. But like when "normal" people see a hook kick  That looks pretty gay if not performed by a martial artist xD. Like mine for example. I can't hook never will be able to. hehe

Power moves = exclamation points
Footwork, FloorRock = metaphores
TopRock, UpRock = body
Freezes = periods, punctuation & exclamation points

"Power moves" are the more dynamic part of Breackdancing, so it's easy to be allured to them...but it's the "floorwork" that says the most in my opinion. That's why I like to compare it to "metaphores". When you see it, it's obscure to you at the moment...but once you step back and look at it from another vantage point, it becomes more.

It's like the tricks [540, btwist, cork, etc.] that appear in tricking combinations. Alone, it can be kinda drab...but when paired with basic kicks [sweeps, hook, axe, etc.], it becomes more. It's the combination of both elements that produce "better" results.

In my opinion...when dancing, a Bboy should express himself using all of the breakdancing elements [just like we communitcate using multiple literary elements]. It's hard to have a conversation with someone who is constantly saying this: "!!! > ! > !!!!!! > !!!!!!!!! > ! > ! > !!" [example of a "powerhead" mentality]

In the same since, it's hard to understand someone who babbles on and on without putting periods on his shit: "icangiveittoyouthiswayoricangiveittoyouthatwaybutn omatterwhichwayyoucantfuckwiththisshit" [example of a "stylehead" mentality]

You gotta find some way to balance that shit: "I can give it to you this way; or I can give it to you that way, but no matter which way...you - can't - fuck! - with - this - shit!!!" [idealistic mentality]

I guess I have demonstrated what was discussed in another thread about how the martial arts aspects of tricking are underrated except I'm underrating the dance aspects of breakdancing.

Obviously I'm not entirely ignorant of the different element of breakdance so far that I'm solely impressed by power moves (although I guess that's the mentality that came across in my posts).

Basically I enjoy a good and well rounded performance as much as the next guy but I'll admit that for disciplines that I'm unfamiliar with I will display somewhat of a "do a backflip" mentality.

Clearly I'm just a breakdance n00b and I'm sorry if I insulted any breakdance fans/practitioners.

bboys like ronnie, hong 10, and machine mix foundation with power, flava and originality thats why you can watch them do their shit for ages. Cicos fun to watch but have you seen him battle? its a bit of a joke

to those who are also into bboying, have you noticed how korean bboys have evolved from just powerheads to being much more balanced bboys? even physicx is working on his footwork bwahahha
