Just got them off two days ago and now I have to wear those damn essix retainers. Yeah they look comfortable but like all retainers, they are a pain in the ass. Any of you guys have or had braces before and what was it like for you?

I've had mine like eight weeks, I was meant to go and get them tightened the other day but I missed my appointment because I live in a world of dreams.

argh man i waited 6 weeks for an appointment, missed it because it was in the middle of the UK gathering, so i they gave me one... a month later, which pissed me off, now i'm working i needed an early one, so i asked for one, and they only gave me one for another month away, so i was like FUCK THAT, and i asked for the first one this monday. i've now been waiting for about 9/10 weeks for this fucking appointment, and i'm now kinda looking forward to when i have my braces off !

I remember when I had mine. The first months we're fucking incredible. Extreme pain and loose teeth, bleedy gums (I spat blood forever) and sleep deprivation.

Thoose were the days...

(Excuse my terminology now, but we don't learn dentist terms in english class).

My corner tooth was above my front tooth. So it had to be pulled back 2 steps and pulled down at the same time, whilst having to be adjusted every now and then for rotating. This caused the tooth to be dragged across my other teeth causing me to be in incredible pain for several weeks until you learn to live with the pain.

And not to mention the fucking scars I had in my mouth, it was like wet sandpaper. Luckily, I like the taste of blood.

I had braces for about a year. It wasn't so much painful as it was an annoyance. To this day I wonder why they never felt like correcting my bottom row since it is pretty crooked as well.

Only the first 3 days for me were really painfull. After the first week, I got used to them since I had braces along time ago before but they didn't work. But this time they did.

Getting them off was such a great feeling, I forgot how it felt to lick smooth teeth

I had mine on for 6 years or so. Fucking worst thing ever. My teeth grew in slowly, so we had to take an 8 month break at one point to let my canines grow out.

I got them removed a week before going to college... best timing EVER!

I've never had braces, not even a hole in my teeth.
Guess I'm lucky.

I got them just over a week ago... pain for about 3-4 days. They actually look quite nice. but eating certain foods is like anal rape.

I had braces for 7 years. It was a pain in the ass, but it made me really appreciate having a nice smile after I got them off. And when you're living in Japan, you appreciate a nice smile.

I was told years ago as a kid that braces would be a good idea for me. Couldn't get them though at the time. I have nothing too dramatic in regards to my teeth but my lower set always stood out more. Of course I never had them done and I'm 22 now. Don't know if I ever will, but I can live with that I guess. I'd kinda hate to have them at this point, so it's a measure of worth.

Yeah I did, then my teeth were like perfect but when I got them off I didnt wear the retainer thingy so now they are just average, moved a fair bit but I don't really mind lol.

But when i had braces i was incredibly introverted and it affected me a fair bit... Now it's all sweet :)

What kind of foods?

For the first few days, everything haha.

The it's just harder food like pizza crust, and apples that you can't eat in case you shear off the brackets.

Unless you suffer from Honken-itis, then you'll suffer terrible misery

i have braces since i was 13, i'm 15 now and the orthodontist said they'll probably take them off in less than half a year (it'll be so nice to smile without this shit), i really didn't have much problems with pain and stuff, maybe the first 2 days after i got them
