View Full Version : Ryan Doyle in hospital (broken fibula) :(
Hey guys, i got a very painful message for you..
yesterday at the red bull art of motion contest in vienna (very big freerunning thing) ryan doyle did a fucking awesome standing doublegainerfull from 3 meters and broke his fibula. we all were pretty shocked but he got first on the event and won the championship with his incredible moves..so sad to see he bailed :(
the event.. the elite..the best of the bests were competing on this event with extreme and crazy moves - for example - tripple cork from 3 meters, double gainer..and so on
the event yesterday was just awesome and pretty intense - even anis or danny graham would have stand with open mouths and were shocked of these "moves" - ok well, its bad compared, but i think u know what i want to say :)
a lot of medias were there..like mtv, orf (austria nr1 channel) - i was invited as one of the best freerunner in austria - crazy event..
i was very proud and happy, well now sad at the same time - ryans bail was one of the worst things i have ever seen - but he STILL is one of the best in the world..we all love him, we miss you - hope u get out cured and healthy..
for me, it was a honor and pleasure to meet all these guys from all around the world..the best of the best (usa, lat, italy, sweden, germany, uk, bulgaria,....)

There must have been some crazy mo'fos there, because none of the stuff Cionn exclaimed sounds like anything that should be tried on a whim.
Triple Cork from a 3 meter height...c'mon now. Anybody who does DCORK can tell you the landing isn't the lightest thing in the world...and now you want to try TCORK from a 6ft height? You've got to be crazy...
Hopefully, everyone that got injured in this event makes the best recovery possible...but hopefully people will learn something from this.
Sorry, i forgot, with mats, an it wasnt a clean landing!:wink:
And yes, in few weeks i try to load up the offizial Red Bull art of motion Contest on youtoub in few parts!

3 metres =/= 6ft. More like 10ft. And it was onto mats. As the story unravels it gets less and less impressive.

Ok, i visit Ryan yesterday in the Vienna hospital!
He broke 3 times his Fibula "and" his Tibia!
But he can alredy smile, he travel at saturday home!
He is a great athlet an win the championchip with his unhuman moves"awesome"

:/ i was expecting sicker stuff from that download. The only guy that stood out was "show time" he seemed to be the only guy who could actually land the tricks he was trying. The rest of it just looked a bit sloppy.
Also how come you don't see ryans bail, it just skips to him being taken off by the ambulance :/
Well it looked pretty awesome to be there and there was some nice tricks being thrown around, just not as nice as i had hoped
i was really dissapointed watching that, considering the amount of hype it had, the sponsors and big crowd watching, it was shit, half of the tricks werent even landed haha, probably because of the massive crash mats. when i used to enter skiing competitions, if you fell at all in your run, it pretty much means that the run is void, but i think nearly every freerunner fell.
the only bit i wanted to see was ryan doyles run, which was cut out.
there was one freerunner who i thought were alright to watch, the guy who was in the red top at about 10 mins in the video.
plus the flatground tricking was embarrasing.

Thats Ryan Doyles runs. And I checked on the 3run forum, ryan doyle didn't do a double gainer full, he broke his fibula by trying to do a tripple cork/overrotated a dobule cork off the thing. It has it in the vid, but it doen't show the landing.
