Are there any articles about this? Like, how different body types affect how you trick.

For example, Scalco is a compact, barrel-chested dude. I know another guy who is like this and both he and scalco seem to be very fast and rotate quickly.

On the other hand, someone like Anis has a really long body with long legs and things like that. They don't seem to move as fast.

Is there anything written on this? It seems like the more compact body type is ideal for tricking.

It's been discussed quite a few times, I'll try to hook up a link

Not this again.
You work with what you were born with to the best of your abilities...end of story.
You do not need a thread to tell you that its about proportion...meaning natural structure vs strength. As long as you have a good balance (of strength vs bone structure/body type) and cordination you should be fine.

Haha, I'm not using this as an excuse for not being good at tricking, I'm just genuinely interested. I'm not saying that it's all about proportion, I was just wondering which features affect what parts of how you trick. Like, if a wider waist affects how you spin or how you flip and etc.

Skinny / Long limbed guys (anis, arashi mike. gary, luu...) = fast spinning
Stocky / "Buff" / Shorter limbed guys (Scalco, Antoine, Crazy Asian...) = Power
Most of us fall somewhere in between. Of course this isnt to say that a skinny, long limbed guys cannot have power (or vise versa)...hell look at Anis, Scalco and Crazy Asian...they all are a good balance of power vs twisting for the most part.

What does power mean in tricking?

Hey Benji, where in Maryland do you live?

I was thinking about this at school today. I would say each type has its advantages and any extra body weight would definitely limit you.

Hey Benji, where in Maryland do you live?

I live in Howard County like right next to Baltimore. Where in Baltimore are you?

Although Sesshoumaru said in the thread he linked to, that tall people have virtually no pros, the only one I can think of is when a tall person busts a move out cleanly, I think it looks so much sexier than someone who's short doing the same move. Mainly where tumbling is concerned.

Tall people have the bonus of everything (especially kicks, due to long legs) looking soooo much better than short guys' tricks. In my opinion anyway.

Appearance wise...yes. Kicks done by those who are taller; or even those who have long legs [Manny Brown] will look more attractive than those with shorter legs [Steve Terada]. Not only this...but the kicks will often times hit harder as well

I live in northern baltimore county, we're probably only like an hour from each other! We should trick together sometime! Are there any gyms close to you? (preferably when driving toward baltimore/northern baltimore)

I can't really think of any along the way, but there is one near my house which some trickers go to. Part of FS sometimes goes and Tomek from here(tt) goes. I'd love to trick, I'm just waiting for my ankle to heal up. I'm not very good either, haha.
