I picked up some pushup bar handle thingys from Wal-Mart for like $7. I've been using them when doing splits and I've found they help a lot with hip positioning and doing returns and isometrics. Plus I use them for practicing pikes and straddles (which is the original reason I bought them).

Just tossing it out there in case anyone else wants to try it.

They sure look like they beat having a flat palm, they're firstly added height, but also a more comfortable grip. Are you talking about something like parallettes that that Beast guy has? I want those.

I also want that cool rotating kind where you can do pushup-punches.

Don't just buy cheap ones like I did, where it's a bar embedded in foam and when you put your hands on it the weight makes it sink into the foam and your hand hits the foam and then your weight goes right off the bar onto your knuckles which is damned annoying.

Yeah, mine are kind of like this:

I like those pushup/punch ones but I didn't see the point in spending 40 bucks on them.

Haha yeah but I suck. I'm a good kicker but I can't do any flips yet except backtuck, and I suck at that too.

Why use pushup bars. When I do push ups, I usually do them on my hands or, preferably for the martial arts, on my knuckles. Why go and buy something that you don't really need?

Did you even read my post numbnuts? I don't use them for pushups.

Those are awesome. I don't think I'll ever be able to do those because I've had wrist problems for a long time. But it's an awesome move.

I use nothing but a cell phone in my training to count my time, sometimes ive trained in the dark, if u want to get something u will not need any shit like that.

It`s ok if you are weak like a pensioner, you can do a split.

Yeah Tim, short started tricking when I found him. I'm teaching him how to trick these days. And by teaching I mean failing. Short I don't understand. You're actually landing backtucks now? You said you can do them even though they're not great. Am I missing something? When did you land one?

You dumbass. I started landing them today. You haven't even seen me make an attempt in over a month. And you aren't teaching me anything haha. You spot me and shit but you make a horrible coach. All you do is insult me and laugh when I hurt myself. Keep up the good work.

Don't get snappy with me mister. Like I'm supposed to know you landed it TODAY when I haven't even talked to you. Give me a break. I had no update with your progress, there was no reason for me to NOT question you.

Maybe you should read my post above a second time. I made a joke about the "teaching" part by adding "failing." As in I'm not really teaching you that much and I'm more or less just your tricking partner. Calm down haha.

You should know by now anytime I've "insulted" you it's been in a joking matter out of sheer sarcasm. If that really affected you negatively that much you could have told me instead of laughing it off. I didn't know you were taking it so serious. I've encouraged you just as much too. I make a joke about something you did one minute but the next I congratulate you on a good job. Or have you forgotten that?

If I really come off as that much of an asshole I'll just stop trying to be so lighthearted in our trick sessions. Anyway, I just had to say something about that. I still look forward to tricking with you haha.

I don't think you understand what I use them for. I can already do the splits.

I use pushup bars to do pikes and to have proper hip and back positioning when doing split returns (up and down up and down).

Eh, if you have cash to spare I guess, mostly for variety.

Why use pushup bars. When I do push ups, I usually do them on my hands or, preferably for the martial arts, on my knuckles. Why go and buy something that you don't really need? The bars allow you to keep a straighter wrist similar to doing them on your knuckles (though not totally, I think it's slightly more extended on a bar) and it is similar to things like bench pressing. It is a variable that strengthens the hand in a different position basically.

I think it gets you up higher than knuckles too, so you could do them with more depth.
