hey guys.

a knowledgeable friend of mine has made a suggestion. i was curious if using the quick athletic peak that tricking causes (and the eventual exhaustion that comes after a few hours of tricking) could be put to use. he said that if i tricked for an hour and then lifted for an hour (give or take 30 minutes on either side), i could very thoroughly exhaust myself and get a hell of a workout.

now, im curious... juji turned me on to caffeine usage and these pre- and post-workout shake triplets (mixture of hydrolyzed whey, regular whey, l leucine, maltodextrin, dextrose, creatine, tyrosine, vitamin b6). the first shake is supposed to be consumed during warmup, the second 15 minutes after the workout, and the third 45 minutes after the second.

my friend suggested the first shake during warmup, the second between tricking and lifting, and the third after lifting.

now, ive got three questions:

one, do you like this idea?

two, i like using caffeine sparingly (once a week, 200-400mg) so the effects keep their potency. could using it three times a week for this workout in some different portion keep me as sensitive to it?

three, are there any other supplements that could be used during this workout to increase effectiveness? common, uncommon, whatever?

thanks for your input guys.

Just a brief quickie, I'll see about writing up more after I've thought about it.

You could add maybe some carbs for the drink between tricking and weight lifting. It could give you a small boost in your muscle energy.

As for the caffeine, try 3 times a week and if you find yourself needing more and more for each time, cut down on it. If it really doesn't work then try using it for those tricking sessions and workouts that you put priority on.

You forgot to state what your actual goals are here. Until then nobody can actually help you very much.

Yea. If your goal is to get 'one hell of a workout' then I suppose it could work.

I trick and lift with about an hour interval. If I shortened the interval my lifts would suffer, IMO.

What is caffeine and supplements? This is Health and Nutrition!

There are both advantages and disadvantages to combining the time frame of your tricking and lifting. The way you've described will possibly be disadvantageous to your lifting, have little effect on your tricking, and, perhaps, be advantageous to your overall conditioning.

My answer would depend on what the goal of your weight training program is.

For example. If you're lifting weights to increase strength and/or power, then I would personally try to keep the workouts separate. If your goal is more towards hypertrophy, then I wouldn't see as much harm in doing the two successively.

However... I think if you experiment with the timing etc. for a few weeks you will be able to tweak your program in a way which will be suitable for you. Because this is a rather arbitrary question, there won't really be any one answer, and personal preference and experience will probably be the greatest influence in working it all out.

If you do combine the two, I would definitely be having a 'meal' of sorts (liquid form would be best here) in between sessions.

shit... sorry to not include the goal fellas. mixing conversations between real world people and the internet leaves some gaps. :paranoid:

im using chicanerous' workout in its basic form plus three or four exercises per day. my goal is simply better tricking and overall conditioning. tricking first, and conditioning just because it would be good.

so yes. tricking and general health. :good:

I would probably keep them separate myself. But that depends on your priorities I guess.

Personally, If I were weight training to improve my tricking, then I would want to be fresh for that session. Since strength and power are such integral parts of the program, I think it's important that you are able to really commit to each lift in order to reap the full benefit or the program.

That said, taking a general conditioning approach to the training wouldn't be such a bad idea either. This approach may also suit your schedule. You may not receive as optimal results in strength and power, but there would be other benefits in terms of conditioning.

So, that really didn't answer anything at all. But now you have a few things to think about.
