Also, how long did it take you to work up to exercises using your body weight amounts? I'm going to start training as soon as the facility near me is finshed being renovated and I just want to know how long it took you guys. Hopefully I can get body weight amounts near the end of grade 12.

What do you mean by "body weight amounts"?

Anyways, I started resistance training almost three years ago. The three year anniversary is on November 11th. :juji:
Also, I started working out since I could flail my arms.

I think he's talking about being able to *lift* your bodyweight.

*squat, bench, deadlift, row, bicep curl*??? who knows.

You want to be able to do a lever Tricker_D? Just try it. It isn't that hard. It won't take you that long. Took me about a week before I can lift my bodyweight with ease.

What do you weigh?

You could probably dead lift more than your bodyweight already. Mind you I wouldn't recommend it until you have the technique down.

i started out about a week ago able to deadlift 1.5 times my own body weight for reps and i know that's fookin wank. i started at a little less than my own body weight (about 63kg) doing 2 sets of 6 reps (as explosively as freakin possible) then repeated that three more times, adding 10 kg each time. so by the time i had finished the sets at 93kg i was pretty tired (and couldn't be assed anymore) so i'm sure i can lift WAY more.

i had never lifted before this so, you never know, you might surprise your self with how easy it is to lift your own body weight man.

I would say I have been training with serious dedication for less than a year. It basically took no time at all to be able to squat, bench, row, and deadlift more than my bodyweight, simply because I started out so skinny and underweight. Once I finally began eating to grow, it took maybe one month where before I was basically seeing no progress. haha

Trial and error. Then intuition.

You don't have to start off with your maximum for any number of reps. With exercise, over time, you just need to keep performing more work than you have before -- this is how you make progress (though how you quantify that increase becomes more complicated as you make more progress). Thus, if you're just starting out, there's no baseline, so you can start at any point as long as you keep increasing from that point. In practice, however, it's good to pick a starting point that is difficult enough that you actually feel like some work is being done (though still far from maximum difficulty).
