View Full Version : Anyone interested in a handbalance tutorial?

I have been browsing these forums for a long time, learning a lot, but never bothered to post much.

Thing is, I am doing a lot of handbalancing, and I am currently thinking about making an in-depth handbalancing tutorial to post on here. It would be covering normal handstands and variations, L-sit to handstand presses, 1 arm balancing, and general pointers to mastering handstands.

I have never seen any guides on handstands on these forums, so I just wonder if anyone would be interested in this? The tutorial will be comprehensive and I would put a lot of effort into it if it is wanted.

Okay...cool, thanks for the response, I will begin my work shortly. Yorks handbalancing course is good, I have read it, but I will mainly use my own experience as reference.

I have a question about the use of pictures though. Whats the best way of hosting the pics?(like Compleks did in his myths about training article)

Also, would it be smart(or possible, I suck at forum stuff) to post additional empty posts after the first and just edit them so I can upload it in chunks?

I'd upload pics to photobucket, it's like imageshack, except you get your own account for free, then link the images to this forum.

Or put everything together in a pdf file or something and offer it for download :pineapple:

I didn't really like Yorks handbalancing guide so yours will probably help more, if you so decide to make it.

I have allways wanted a good video tutorial, not only for my hand stands but for my L-seats. if posible and if you know, could you put in your tutorial exercises you need to do to strengthen the parts of your body needed to do hand stands if that makes sence?:pineapple::pineapple::pineapple::carrot:

I think I just copied the image URL to be honest (and inserted it using the image tags). I'm not sure this would be the best option though, as some of the pictures have started to disappear I think.

Yes, just make sure you get in quickly and reserve the spots you need. I'm sure the mods would be able to help you out if you have any problems saving the spaces.

Keep us updated on your progress. I'm very interested to see what you come up with.

Yes, it is a very interesting topic. I've read those York courses, they're awesome.

Since handbalancing/standing involves inversion, this is a relevant topic as well, like way it can stretch your neck, and alter's gravity's pull on your organs and fluids.

What is it with your damn inversion fetish.

Thanks for the feedback.I started working yesterday with the introduction and the basics. I will upload it in parts first and then make a pdf file for download. I will also include a section with emphasis on conditioning.

The introduction and the basic handstand section will be finished shortly. I'm going to take pictures today which I will use .I may need some time to get the structure of the text right, but I hope to have the first part up tomorrow or the day after

Yo mikah, how's the handbalancing tutorial going?

Ashtar
Nov-04-07, 04:09 AM
I want a guide on how to eat a high-glycemic birthday cake while standing one one hand.

Actually... wouldn't this be a way to strengthen the muscles of your esophagus? After all, it has to pull the weight of the food into your stomach against gravity's resistance. That's actually pretty impressive.

Sakanem
Nov-04-07, 07:24 AM
oh noes! high-glycemic! We're all going to die :dead:

Ashtar
Nov-05-07, 02:15 AM
You could start off with angel-food cake which is all light and flowery, and then when your esophagus hypertrophies, switch to eating pound cakes, fruit cakes, and high-fibre things.

If I think about it... to swallow liquid your throat would need to clench all the way shut, so that's probably the hardest thing.
