This thread was inspired by a recent discussion.
Who here knows their way around a kitchen?
What are some of your signature dishes?
(preferably healthy meals, but it's all good)
Share some recipes so we can get some more ideas and variety in our meals.
I attached a picture of something I prepared a few years ago.

Here's another old picture.
There's some sort of fish in the center, with potato skins around the side. On top of stir-fried vegetables.

Plenty, I'm sure.
i know my way around a kitchen. a few meals i enjoy making are beef heart, pizza, and rice with lentils.
beef heart is simple, i just boil it for a while
pizza include freshly made wheat dough, a layer of sliced tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar, and chopped garlic for the sauce, then a couple layers of mozzarella and provolone with roasted garlic, onion, green pepper, smoked herring or anchovies, more olive oil and diced tomatoes and whatever else i have
turns out thick and delicious
rice and lentils:
first put chopped garlic, green pepper, chili peppers, onion, parsley, olive oil, and any other vegetables, let them cook for a few minutes in the oil.
add lentils and boiling water, let it go for a few minutes before adding rice, vinegar, and spices, let cook 20 or so minutes
and compleks, your meals look delicious
i live alone so i mostly just cook for myself, usually keeping it simple. but ocassionally i take my time and make something fancier

Sounds good Baron.
I've never been any good at making doughs, breads, or pastry type dishes. I'll have to learn to make a pizza base though, because I enjoy a good home made pizza.
I still live at home, but prepare all my own meals at the moment because I'm cutting weight. Most of the week my meals are pretty damn boring (I keep everything very basic when I'm dieting), but I like to cook some nice meals on the weekends.
I usually 'cheat' on my diet Sunday nights, so I spend the day preparing a good hearty roast or something.
I also enjoy cooking for the family a few nights a week, even if I'm not going to eat it.
While I'm sounding like a big fag, I might aswell admit I like watching Jamie Oliver, and other cooking shows.
those look pretty exquisite.
i started eating eggs recently (today) and have no idea how to prepare them.
how does a budding chef such as yourself handle these

I usually have eggs in the morning, when I am slightly pressed for time. Since I'm cutting, I just crack them into a bowl, whisk them up, and microwave them. I usually serve them on a slice of toast.
Nothing special. In fact, most people find it disturbing. I do this out of convenience, and habit I guess.
If I have the time, am not cutting, and feel like preparing something a little tastier then I will usually make an omelet. These are dead easy, and you can always make them differently depending on your taste.
I also like scrambled eggs, and French toast. Nothing really special as far as eggs go, just experiment with various herbs and spices etc...

That's pretty much the truth. Provided you can follow instructions, then you should be able to replicate just about anything. In theory, or course.

I'm an excellent cook, but cooking "fancy" food takes too much time, if you eat a meal every third hour you'd pretty much end up spending your whole day infront of the stove, so that's why I eat stuff raw or poorly prepared or just very simple meals.
I take some time to prepare a meal everyonce and then of course, mostly on resting days and stuff.

I'm pretty much the same. All my weekday meals are dead easy and boring, but I like to cook on the weekends.

I love cooking
For lunch today I combined a can of Baxter's chicken broth, 300g of diced chicken breast, and 300g of noodles.
I cook...Not advanced meals, but I don't know anyone else my age, with the same "skills".

I can cook a pretty mean cinnamon pop tart. When pressed for time in the morning I eat the poptart while still in the bag, but when I have the necessary time I generally use 5-6 seconds on high and when I feel really ambitious I use the toaster.
I make eggmeal before bed
pour oats into microwaveable container
pour small amount of milk in eggs, enough to wet all of them
crack egg and whisk into mixture
microwave on high for 2:30
add sugar to taste
throw in frozen blueberries (or other fruit)
eat

Yeah I can cook really well actually. I never cook at home though, because it's too time consuming and not worth the effort. If I do cook, its always something simple like sauteed vegetables with some kind of animal carcass.

Well, i'm aiight at cooking i guess...for a 20 yr old college student
Anywayz...i like fried rice cuz it's so fast to fix once you got all the ingredients together. I usually have my usual ingredients. Scrambled eggs, frozen peas, spam, chopped onions. Then the must haves are of course the precooked rice, soy sauce, and oyster sauce.
1. oil in pan, high heat, then dump the chopped up spam and onions in there to kind of brown it and make the onions kind of translucent.
2. after maybe like 20-30 seconds, then i dump the peas and eggs in and mix it for maybe another 30 seconds.
3. after that, then i put the rice in and stir the flavors together.
4. After, i squirt the soy sauce around just enough to brown the rice a tad bit. And then stir.
5. Then the oyster sauce....amount is according to taste. Don't put too much or the fried rice gets mushy.
6. enjoy!!!
The process is the same if you substitute with other stuff. Instead of peas, you could put brocolli, cauliflower, anything....you get my drift. Meat can be anything too..chicken, beef....
Also, if you fancy ginger, you can put that in step 1. Of course, finely chopped. The same with garlic.
Enjoy!
