Everyone is different. If it doesn't noticeably disturb your sleep, then it's all good.

Also, generally when I eat before bed it's a large amount of food, not just a small snack.

I do this all the time. My biggest meal of the day is right before bed. I personally think it's horrible for you as I am constantly tired and never feel like I have slept enough. I just have to live with being a werewolf though.

I do the same and I feel the same O_O. Maybe I'll try to change it (when I feel like it) and see how it works out).

I do this all the time. My biggest meal of the day is right before bed. I personally think it's horrible for you as I am constantly tired and never feel like I have slept enough. I just have to live with being a werewolf though.
Could be that you wake up during a phase of deep sleeping. Everyone will feel like a zombie then.

if you eat at 10 and then get up at 6.30 and eat some breakfast that's not good for your metabolism.

In the above I was talking about big meals.

Please provide some insight as to why this is.

My sleep cycle is so fucked up. I went to bed at 3am yesterday, overslept for about 4 hours and missed todays one and only seminar at school.

Eating "a lot" late at night never does me any good. My sleep is disturbed and in the morning it feels like I am still digesting it. If I wake in the morning feeling hungry then I take it as a good sign.
I try to eat my evening meal about 3 hours before bed but in practice its usually a bit later.
As has been suggested - see how you feel with the late meal and without (eat it earlier).

I normally eat a PB&J sandwich with whole milk right before I get into bed.
It certainly isn't my biggest meal, and it doesn't have any adverse effects on my sleep.
If you feel it causes problems, then simply eat more earlier in the day.
I have found that when a lot of people try to start eating "healthy", they don't realize how severely their calories and overall food intake has been cut down. So, they end up binging later. It's a natural response of the body, and you need to rectify this problem if you want this behavior to stop.

Actually, I need to eat more than I do right now, which is why I find myself eating a lot at night, because it's not as simple as eating earlier. I don't have enough time during the day to get all the calories/food I need, with school and everything, but I'm working on it.
So it's not anything like me cutting down my calories or dieting or something forcing me to binge at night, it's me trying to get enough food/calories per day with me being so busy

My point was that you switching to "healthier" food (meaning, less processed, and normally less calorically dense) without working on increasing the AMOUNT of food you can handle in any one sitting, has left your body short on calories.
The solution is to either eat more calorically dense foods, or simply consume more food.
And you are only 16. You are not THAT busy.

Sometimes I find myself shoving down food right before bed to consume sufficient calories.

I used to do that with poptarts and whole milk.
I eventually wound up gaining too much fat, but that was also from too much inconsistancy within my workout routine.

On a related note, I recommend setting time limits to reach certain amounts of calories.
For example, by noon have at least 1000. By 6 o'clock have at least 2000. By 9pm make sure you've got at least 3000 in you. And then obviously by bed time 3500-4000 depending on where you're at.
