Hi everybody!
I was wondering if you train when you get sick? I, for instance, just do some static stretching and breathing exercises. I am currently taking some antibiotics ( for the past three days, that is) and I was wondering should I start a little bodyweight exercise session today. Thanks for your opinion!
Cheers!:tea:

Stretching, breathing and light exercise are fine while sick, may even help recovery. You just don't try to set new personal bests or anything.

I haven't been sick enough to warrant not training in the last 3 years, so I wouldn't know.
Normally you should ask your doctor about this but the general consensus is:
- Bodily infection (viruses or a spread out infection) means cease and desist on all strenous activities. Stretching is fine but no exercising, it is only detrimental anyway during a stage of sickness. The main reason you should not perform strenous exercise is because the infection can spread due to a lowered immune system. If it hits your heart, kiss your ass goodnight. I had a friend who passed away due to this.
- Local infection should not be as severe but this is really something to ask your doctor. Inflamed areas should not be exercised and generally speaking it is better to rest.
What are you taking antibiotics for?

I am taking antibiotics due to an inflamed throat caused by a virus.
Antibiotics don't help against viruses... For crying out loud you're taking antibiotics without even needing them? Good job buddy, it's thanks to you and the doctors that prescribed this that the bacteria are getting more and more resistant.

Don't train. Cleaning your room should be enough.
