When i try to sidelfip Its weird i basically do a frontflip!

I keep my eyes facieng the way my body is faceing which is to the side i dont have my body in a sideflip position and my face in a frontflip posistion they are both faceing the side and i jump to the side and do a frontflip.

This is a big problem for me becuase i really wnat to learn sidelfips =[

Has anyone ever had this porblem if so how did you learn sidelfips?

Thanks.

post a vid? sideflips are way too easy to have problems with them. just jump and roll over your shoulder in the air.

I knowwww what you mean, when you actually want to get sideways it's much easier to use a one footed take off, thats the only reason I'm trying to learn one footed sides haha, ever time I try a punch sideflips I just do a kinda mixture between a punch sideflip and a punch front, it's kinda just a front flip off axis.

I did my first sideflip two days ago by accident. I had always wondered how the fuck you rotate over your shoulder... then decided I'd just throw an arm down after jumping up and rotate around that.

Landed that and now they're easy as hell... just an odd rotation in the air imo

Jump up, throw an arm down, and flip over the shoulder/arm. Land.

P.S. This was a standing sideflip, I can't do a running sideflip...

I can do a running one footed sideflip, but not a normal running sideflip

I can do running punch sideflips and standing, but not one footed takeoffs xD

My sister has the same problem, I try to get her to sideflip and she just front flips moving sideways. I recommend trying cartwheel > sideflip. Basically, do a cartwheel, keep the sideways momentum and do the motion for another cartwheel, but for the second one try to jump up and tuck instead of putting your hands down. It's kinda scary the first time, but it takes NO EFFORT as long as you tuck.

After that work on blocking out of the cartwheel better, and you should not only have no problem with punch sideflip motion, but you'll be on your way to cartfulls already :good:

I will try this but I have one question: (noob question)

Can you explain blocking? I have seen a vid on what blocking is but I only know that you can block for gainer flashes

Anytime you turn horizontal momentum into vertical momentum, you are blocking. Roundoffs are used for blocking for backflips, cartwheels are an easy alternative for sideflips.

Pretty much when I say block, I mean try to travel less sideways, more upward. A perfect blocking technique results in you landing in the same spot you took off from.

awsome! so what if some guy was running at 17m/h and did a ro. How much air would he get?

Are you sure about that becouse, if you watch some gymnasticpro doing roundoff backflips
they are moving up, but same time they are moving back.. This means you are wrong or they don't know how to block:D:D

On my sis' account now to clarify:

Yes, a "perfect" blocking technique in terms of height gained will always result in you landing in the same exact spot. HOWEVER, if you do so, it can be harder to get torque for flips or spins, so people sacrifice a bit of height in order to do the move.

EDIT: See the doublelayout at 0:31? That was incredibly high and barely traveled. with that kind of height you'd think he could triple layout with ease, but see he flips slower.

1. Tkd tim knows what he is talking about.

2. Gymnastist has to have the perfect amount of blocking in order to get from one place to the other. Their goal is different from tricksters, and this is why TRICKING IS DIFFERENT FROM GYMNASTICS.

3.Post count 12.. :D... If i don't post, that dosent mean i wouldn't know about blocking or tricnking etc...
I agree with your first and second comment.

I'm not tricking to be rude about saying your post count is low. I was suggesting that you should get more involed in the community. :good:

Also, just wanted to point out that that is one reason Anis doesn't attempt double backflips...he prefers to go uber high with a slower rotation. Even though his first flip is so dang high, it'd be dangerous for him to stay tucked and go for the second the way he does it.

Though actually, he could still do it if he didn't stall the first flip so long xD
