what is the mindset you guys have when you trick? do you feel like you are training for a goal, fun, bliss, or to look cool? what do you guys trick for? i feel like when i train my tricks, i loose sight of how fun it can be. when i only trick for fun, i loose whatever clean up jobs i worked for. its hard for me to find a medium but when the rest of the world tricks how do u feel?

You're exactly like me haha.

I like to be kind of stressed out before I trick. I use it just to get away from problems and have some fun. I usually end up being fairly productive when I'm like this.

I also feel like this. Prahaps not stressed though. Maby upset, or angry.

I'm very "goal-oriented" when it comes to tricking; however, I always make room for some fun [which is experimentation for me].

Fun... experimentation...

Sounds like you have a lot of interesting trick sessions...

We all are goal oriented at some point i'd say. For me this usually takes more fun away when i trick.

I'll have more fun when i'll get better though

Always...I hardly ever do the same thing twice, and I've been tricking for almost 13 years now. You can only imagine the tricks I put together when the camera isn't on me

I trick for fun. If I didn't find it fun I wouldn't do it. That doesn't mean I don't take it seriously.

My old mindset = try to do cool stuff and film it so I can make a cool sampler!
New mindset = Have fun, do whatever, dont take it to serious and dont give a crap about making a sampler.
hahah
I found tricking the way I used to got really boring and sucked the fun out of it.

As long as I'm not injured or tired or hungover and it's not cold outside I feel fairly able to have a good session. All it takes is a positive mood for me to get into things.

For me, priority in tricking is of course to have fun, spend time with my friends but there is seriousness too, by which I mean discovering your abilities, pushing them forward, being creative and to progress.

At the moment I trick for certain goals.

After I attain these goals though, I already have many plans for fun things I want to try out.
I just want to have fun, but first I have things I want to do to surpass my current boundaries. These things are usually lot's of work and trouble, but once they're done they can be quite fun in themselves.

I would say trying something but not getting something can be fun, but then I'd be lying. But it's fun when you try something, then you figure out why you couldn't do it, then you use what you just found out and suddenly you have it or come quite closer. Gaining more understanding makes me feel happy and it's fun.

As much as I equate tricking with fun, if I didn't set "unfun" goals for myself or push myself to excel more, then I wouldn't have more to learn from. For the past long while, the more I mess up or find I don't do something right or well or when something needs improvement, the more I learn from it.
In fact, haha, now that I think of it I usually don't learn crap from "good sessions" unless I specifically and intentionally fixed something during it.

It's a mixed bag. Sure you can learn plenty while having fun. But I find I learn the most when I end up not being able to do something under certain circumstances, which isn't fun. I don't think everyone tries to be as analyzing as me, so maybe that approach doesn't work for them.

But I find it's a trade off. If you train more in the present, you'll be able to have more fun in the future. This of course is dependent on one's goals. Maybe one's goals is not to acquire as many higher levels techniques, or they don't even care about progressing as much at all. In that case, desiring to make the most fun out of tricking is quite wise. But if you're looking for progress, then lots of training and pushing is required. But, you can still smile even through the hard work.

i think the most important thing (at least for me) is learning to have fun while working hard and "training". i think it just comes with the attitude that i'm gonna have fun either way, so i look forward to working hard.

but the funnest sessions are definitely with guys i have fun hanging out with trying new stuff and goofing off. and usually trying lots of things i can't land. lol plus, crashes are funny.

I'm tempted to buy you one and send it so we can gorge on the mass of footage haha.

I need more moneys.

Oh yea another thing going along with what Jeff said. Sessions are usually fun with at least someone else around, because then when you mess up they laugh and you laugh and realize it's funny. Whereas, if you're alone you have noone there to laugh with and to make you realize it's not so bad and you're going "Why can't I do it! I'm DYING INSIDE.".

yeah, crashing sucks when your alone. but when you have friends its great cuz you can laugh it off.
