shurkien is basically a btwist with your jumping leg straight the whole time, and you land on it.

illusion is like a bkick with an outside cresent were you land on 2 feet.

Illusion is basically 360 from butterfly setup.

An Illusion should be close to upright, and a shuriken should not.

illusion = diagonal/upright
shuriken = horizontal

they look similar?

Shuriken twists and illusion twists are VERY different. The only person who does shuriken twists right is ben brown.

Nobody else has taken the time to learn them properly, they just do a horizontalish illusion twist and claim its a shuriken twist.

The shuriken twist has a whole different motion and route that it follows during the trick. If you look at a btwist, an illusion twist and a shuriken twist from straight above them, you would see that the illusion twist is the only one that deviates from the straight line you are travelling along.

in these amazing drawings, i represents the body. The dot is the FEET

Btwist
start i----takeoff------spin---------land---i

illtwist
start i ----takeoff------kick------ land --- i

Shurikent i-----takeoff--- \
----------------------------- \
--------------------- ---------\
---------------------- ---------\-kick------- land i

ive never seen anyone else do a proper shuriken twists that comply to this.

illusion twist you do a 360 kick from a bkick? so you land on two feet

with a shruken you do do a btwist but kick your first leg landing on one foot.

Sorry if i am wrong.

Illusion= pop 360 from btwist set-up/take off.
Shuriken= Btwist with a defined kick formed throughout by the jumping/landing leg.

In some respects you could argue an illusion twist is just a popped shuriken twist.

illusion is not exactly horizontal, but still considered a horizontal trick. id say more of a pop 360 in a btwist (cuz of the same initial motion from takeoff with your upper body)

shiruken is a btwist with a inside crescent kick. (like a single leg from a btwist setup)

**sidenote* i wonder if you could axe kick a shiruken. im sure manny brown can haha..thatd be dope

To my understanding:
Unlike Butterfly twist, Shuriken twist has no dip in the take off. During the move you are completly horizontal with both legs straight, until the landing, when the trail leg chambers. Also, there is a slight direction change from the take off.

Illusion twist, your body is more upright and the kick travels from side to side as apposed to a downwards slice like in Shuriken twist. Illusion twists can be landed on the trail leg, or on both feet like I think Hans tends to do.

or illusion is like a bkick that you cresent out of and a shuriken is a hypercresent out of your btwist or whatever

shiruken can have a dip.

I'm basing my description of Shuriken twist off of Ben Browns technique, the guy who performs the trick the best I've seen. Not saying that it can't have a dip, but the way Ben does it doesn't have one.

someone should post vids of the best of each one

Shuriken Twist - Ben Brown
Illusion Twist - Marcel Jones/Manny Brown/Hans etc

Ben Brown doesnt dip for his btwists too, u cant judge the move base on one person's style
