well a raiz is a gumbi without using your hands it starts like an aeiral and then turn over...
and when i look to this "teradaswipe" he never starts like an aerial/gumbi
he starts like an layback 540...
his like never goes back like an aerial
it goes up like a 540 kick...

You don't need a gumbi to do a sideswipe.
You take-off like raiz.
Edit:
You also don't need a gumbi to do raiz. The only thing you need to do raiz is testicles.

but if you don't start a raiz like a gumbi it's not that inverted...

then you'll get what i mean :)
both are raizes. Scalco's is ridiculously inverted where terada is somewhat inverted.

terada needs a very high raiz for swipeknifes that is why it looks some what inverted, it looks a bit layback but it flows thu the raiz in half take off way.

u can stil raiz and invert without doing the gumby
i dont know why everyone associates raiz with gumby now...that's just ONE way to learn it
watch marc c -> classic sideswipe
sorry i have no vids of him, but im sure if u look around u'll find some
no, you do gumby take off / approach for suicide swipe...not sideswipe.
the whole idea behind doing a no-handed gumbi is so you do a super inverted raiz...and when you switch it, it becomes a suicide swipe.
A side swipe doesnt have to be that inverted, as long as hips go above head and the kick comes torwards the face as opposed to around the leg (like 540 or laydown 540).

My opinion is in agreement with these two gentlemen.
