I've heard it from a trainer some time ago that if your "too" flexible on your legs, it may effect the power of your kick in a negative way.
Is this true? I dont really believe it, im just curious.

Well if you just stretch sure it will make you sloppy=) But if you kick a lot as the same time your stretching there should not be any negative things coming.
Muscles + flexibility = good kics, of course u need som techniques to=)
Just check out timman his kicks looks like he could kill someon.

It's sort of true. I mean, if you stretch a great deal with risky methods, you can screw with your ligaments, joint surfaces and with the elasticity (not quite the right word but you get the idea) of your tendons. Obviously, this sort of thing can negatively effect kicks.
However, to actually get to this point takes a lot of work and a poor stretching method. If you follow Juji's method, you'll won't have any problems.

So semi-true? Ok.
What the fuck.
Okay, listen. I used to be able to do oversplits to a pretty good degree. I could do oversplits so that my feet were on a level just above my waist, like so: \/
Now I lift weights, so I can only do a minor oversplit.
My experience is this: If you stretch constantly without strengthening your musculature, you WILL get sloppy kicks. They'll be vertical and all, but your legs will be flailing everywhere, because your muscles aren't strong enough to "grip" the leg and keep it there properly.
Moral: Lift weights or make sure to strengthen your legs properly through strength training and basic kicking.

Yeah thats pretty much what i thought too haha. The thought of being weaker just because of stretching is dumb. I didnt quite believe it at first either.
My kicks are fine though thanks, i was just curious cause one of my friends asked this question and when i told him that its likely not true he didnt believe me haha.

It's a different dynamic to raise your leg slowly than to kick quickly. Your muscles might be used to expanding quickly but not slowly as in some sort of static active motion, if that's what you're talking about.
