I'm more of a flips person, but saying that, I'm trying to concentrate more on kicks at the moment because, since flips are easy for me, if I can get my kicks up to my kicks standard, then I will be a good all around tricker.

If anything, aerial tricks are my best and easiest learned out of all my others... although I still have troubles with aerialswitches often, but that's mosly because I can't practise it because that landing ankle has been fucked for ages.

During today's session I actually did focus on all aspects of tricking.

I practiced twisting, then kicking, then some flipping/tumbling. And yeno what? That mess is fun. I love all kinds of tricks!


HA! I did a double leg today! I haven't tried them in 2 years, but when I used to try them I would end up turning over and falling or doing some weird back flip type thing. But today I'm just like, ok let's try it. And I did it! Quite crappy, I'll admit, but I got the basic motion haha.

I am an all around trickster, but if I had to choose I would go with kicks over flips and twists.

I LOVE kicks! It makes 60 - 70% of tricking in my opinion.

I wouldn't consider kicks to be easier than other tricks, but that always depends on the person. in fact I think flips are much easier except you speak from tornados or 360s.
The possibility to injure yourself is maybe a little bit lower than in other tricks, but as you can see on for example scalcos knee injury you're never out of risk. That sure depends on the difficulty, which goes for all tricks.
And yeah all tricks look fancy, that's why they're called tricks.


Don't get me wrong I like kicks too (as the other parts of tricking), I just wouldn't consider your arguments to be that strong in favour of a kicks orientated trickingstyle. The only real advantage in my opinion is that fear doesn't play such a big role.

The rest are just personal preferences. And hey isn't that what this thread is about? Bringing arguments why doing one group of tricks is better than doing another doesn't really make sence.

I would say I am pretty well rounded to be honest.
I never found one of the trick groups to be that much harder to pickup on than the others. Well obviously kicking tricks take much more work to perfect than the other groups but I wouldnt say I specialize in anything.
When I progress, I progress in a very balanced way...making sure I cover all trick groups--kicks, aerial stuff, doubleleg stuff, twist stuff, flip stuff...
It is way more fun that way anyways.
