View Full Version : Need some tips for raiz and jacknife *vid inside*

So, I've been drilling these tricks for about 6-7 months now, and I'm getting frustrated for not being able to do them properly.

For raiz, my chest is too low so I always either put my hands down or crash on my face.

For jacknife, I never get the two kicks to be acceptable, either the round isn't good, or the hook is more like back kick.

I'd really appreciate some help. :smile:

Same comment on youtube: Raiz is NOT a hyper cheat 360. So stop doing it that way. Practice gumbis. Then do raizes the same way. And it helps with a hook before the raiz too. Gives U more power. Its really easy if you know how to do it =D And that "jacknife" was more like a wannabe-swipeknife-thingy. Dont lean back so much. That goes for 540s too ;

I must say that that wasn't helpful at all.
First of all, there are many ways to do the raiz, I do the gumbi version on my other side. But I'm practicing the raiz on this side this way, as it is IMO more visually appealing, and more useful for variations. I just have trouble getting my chest up.
And for the comment for not leaning back on jacknifes: check out Ben Brown's jacknife and Terada's swipeknife. Although Brown leans back heavily, it's still a jacknife, not swipeknife. The first kick in swipeknife should go over the head. There's a huge difference. And in 540s I prefer to lean back a little as it looks better and makes the round kick easier to go trough + more power.

Better a contructive post searching help than purely spam as u do. Please, dont create another account.

About not getting ur chest up enough, stretch it, and start to make a important quantity of abdominals, and whatewer, try to use one arm to lift u upwards and work on the spin lift with the other parts of ur body, dunno.
