View Full Version : cooldown after stretching
haha Ironic title kinda but anyways...
What are some cool down stretches (?) that you can do after completing a set of isometric stretches...because after I get done I am hurting and in need of some serious cool down stretching.
Should I just follow up with some light relaxed stretching or is that kinda pointless?

That's what I do. Just one or two sets, or until it feels better. That's a good time to do overall stretches for your entire body, too.

Yeah, relaxed stretches after isometrics are good. Then a walk or light jog or something after that is ideal.
I don't think even isometrics should hurt much. If you're still hurting a lot after the cooldown, you might be doing too much isometric stretching.
i like to so some easy squats and lunges after my isometric stretching.

Cool down stretches usually consist of lighter stretches anyway, so yeah. I do sets of 5-10 for warm up, that should be good for cooling down. Do it until it feels better, thats the best.

Cooldowns are to keep circulation up a bit (but not as much) to help keep the waste products from the routine pumping out right? I can see stretching helping a little with that I guess, but I always figured it a reverse warmup.
