in regards to a vid (many of you probably already saw) posted by the tobias brothers on bilang.com
(copy/pasted):
"titled: determining a winner for a trick battle... what do you look for???
whats yer rubric?
mines big, clean, fast, powerful looking technique. and like achi mentioned, you gotta be landing with control. like, on yer feet lol
n of course style, flow, use of variations in tricks n combos. competitive aggressiveness. it is a battle after all.
n while we're at this (n im referring to the france/belgium battle), it looked hype and all, and i have nothing against taunting n the battlecries lol but the minute a doode's tricks/combos are spatially impeded by others who risk being kicked in the face, the battle ground needs to be cleared back a bit
thats just my taste tho

Yeah I look for powerfull clean and inventive tricks / comboes. I think alot of people see the taunting in battles as arrogance or cockyness, I have spoken to quite a few people who have said they think Anis is cocky because of his taunting ect. However I know this is not the case, it's a 'battle' therefore it makes sense if there is some dort of taunting.
I also agree people should stay a safe distance from the person doing a trick / combo.
Deezy please do us a favour, and start writting in normal english cause you're giving me a real hard time reading what you post :eh: No offense meant, of course
Well, first of all, I think what matters is that the battle is enjoyable. And to make it enjoyable, the competitors must show some powerful and nice tricks and combos. Creativity comes in place here too. And of course certain respect to eachother (stay away when the opponent is performing, no insulting behaviour, etc. etc.)
As for this battle, I must say that I like Anis more. His height is really tough to beat, his landings are more controlled than Danny's and his style is a lot more floaty and powerful at the same time. Not saying Danny isn't good though, he kicks ass of course!
As for Anis and his taunting. I think it's appropriate and at least a bit creative. And I think taunting is also good for opponents motivating eachother in battle. They don't call these things "BATTLE" for no reason.

yeah that's what I mean.
well chris you're english, and I'm well aware of the fact the you english people always write like shit haha  so I guess it's probably really easier for you to read those things. for us, who are thought correct english in school and we only talk as correct english as possible, it's kinda hard reading this, if you know what I mean haha
p.s.: lol I don't mean I can't read it, or that I don't understand something, I can read it all just fine, and understand everything, it's just a bit annoying that's all =)

Haha, yeah I know English isn't your first language , although you have very good english. I try to use correct english when i can remember haha.
ow wow more spelling police..
Flow..Style..Execution of trickz.
landing them ( on ''yer'' feet )
the taunting i dont care bout
i think that makes the moment fire up ..
people might get slightly irritated ( battle wise ) and the trickz will be more explosive..

ya diggamajigg?aight ..
yes.
I think tricking on a level which is "not common" and/or one-upping the person who just went before you is awesome! Also cleanliness is a really big in my books and any innovative/spur of the moment things [reacting to the current environment, etc.] are also bonuses =]

I think that to most people watching a battle, big and flashy tricks are more appreciated than technical combos that arent as pleasent on the eys.
An example of this would be for someone to throw a double cork. This trick would get much more praise than a combo that takes the same amount of skill, example: hook> cheat 9 double> hook> swipeknife ( i could'nt think of a suitable combo quick enough). This makes some trickers more suitable than others. An example of a good battle tricker is geoffrey previously of team Asura, he has quite a few " big" moves to throw down but he doesnt have many technical combos. I think an example of a tricker not so suited to battling would be Flow. Flow is one of my all time favourite trickers but he more about the technical tricks and combos which are harder to recognise as incredibly skillful in the heat of a battle.
If you disagree with it's cool, just my opinion.
I dunno man, what about in that battle when sessh just started doing a crazily long autobahn/narabong and then ended it with something like parafuso > s/t gainer pop front or something close to that. It was just like YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!
It was technical and unique, it was something people weren't expecting and those types of things get the WTF/YESSSSS factor.
Although being able to do the really big moves is definitely another way to end battles. As long as it is landed well.

The comontator of the big trick seemed more impressed when someone did a round off back that was really high than if someone threw a perfect snapu...
Deezy(LoOpk!cks)
Dec-24-07, 07:21 AM
yah... how could i leave out difficulty lol.. n creativity. n theres always that wow/surprise factor of pulling sumthing yer opponents and the crowd didnt expect. totally flipping it on their ass hahaha [=< sessh tends to do this on the regular

Anis wins it hands down for me
But then again im not a big Danny fan haha. I just dont really like Danny's style, Anis just has more snap/power in his tricks, while Danny looks like he's just about landing stuff, Anis is stomping them with apparent ease.
plus Anis has the ability to pretty much do anything that Danny does, but not the other way round.

If there is anything more absurd-looking than a "tricking battle" I don't want to see it

I like Daniel Grahams tricks better except his Btwist and variations they arent horizontal at all. But Danny has much better kicks than Anis and pretty much owned Anis combo wise in that battle! Snapu - hook - 540 twist - cork or the Graham cracker combo = pwnage! The fact that Danny tried much more advanced stuff while Anis just sticked to what he does best made Danny win for me!
Anis won that one imo.
Danny was good but a lot of his stuff wasn't landed or executed like it should be (snapu wasn't even horizontal) and Anis was pretty much right on the dot as far as technique.

i agree with you chris the elements used to judge a battle, because well, you taught me those things a loooong time ago lol

Yea I'd say Anis took it.
Clean execution on just about everything, you can tell he was using what he knew he definitely already is capable of. Everything was solid and landed well with wonderful technique.

mang u, got teachz me more of tiz vocabulariez mang, i can't get them all.
its important to have clean and stylish tricks too.
taunting is also important i think, even more when you're playing to the croud.
danny get pwned
Nick B
Dec-24-07, 06:46 PM
yeah, while danny was throwing some crazy stuff, pretty much none of it was done cleanly or with any flow, so i'd have to go with anis on this one.

Dec-24-07, 06:58 PM
anis because I didn't like dannys hair, while anis' clean cut smoothl.. oh? tricking.. err.. anis was.. good.
but in reality Anis, because danny was pulling off some crazy shit but he kept losing flow.

Dec-24-07, 07:14 PM
Anis has a lot more snap and cleanliness, but Danny's kicks are wicked.
I'd go with Anis here. good battle.

danny graham's moves were so forced, they had no flow at all. On another note, i seriously didnt know he was trrying for snapus until i read other ppl's post, his was completely vertical, it wasnt even tilted. Other than anis being the obvious winner, i would like to say that kjer stood out the most in that battle. His tricks werent too high caliber, but they were lightning fast and flowed together extremely well.

This vid is like "you got served" but somehow even gayer
btw danny loses, he couldnt even land half his tricks :P

Danny reminds me of the anis back in the day in this vid. Not his actual tricks or anything, but his uhh...roughness?
Anis used to have crazzzzyyy tricks but he wasnt that clean....now hes got crazier tricks and hes like one of the cleanest trickers out there. I dont really know who could actually battle Anis and clearly beat him, but I sure would like to see.

Anis won this one, definitely.
He landed practically everything he tried, and one-upped Danny on numerous occasions. Danny put up a decent enough fight considering who he was facing, but it wasn't enough.
Plus, that 720 twist combo was insane, AND he landed it nigh perfectly.

Dont you forget how advanced the tricks and combinations Danny tried was? Thats maybe why he coudnt land them.
I dont understand how people can say that Anis "clearly" won or "definately" or "no doubt", Dannys team had one out because of an injury, so he had to do more than Anis.
Other than that I think KJER won that battle lol, the combo he did after Gemma Nguyen and the other girl was just too much for me! The speed, flow and power was insane! Mad props KJER!
And did anyone notice in the beginning when Anis is reaching out for Dannys hand hahah, looks like Anis got pissed!

But, It bothers me that Anis did nothing but cork variations.

lol u forgot the full-flash he did in the beginning. I was a bit disappointed with flow's performance, i think he was really out of it that day. Im pretty sure if he tried, he would be an evenly matched opponent for anis. Not only can flow do crazy difficult tricks he can also combo them in and out in the most inconvienent fashion possible eg hypertwist-misleg hypercheat9.

Dec-25-07, 08:55 PM
with this particular battle i think anis won just because danny did a lot less clean tricks.
he has an arsenal of bad ass things he can do but he for some reason was trying twists (not what i would consider lazii boi's strength)...the "snapu" was a super high 540 gyro that he put his hands down on. and the double btwist was very "ehhh" especially in comparison to anis'.
idk about a "rubric" its just overall performance and sportsmanship. . . I love seeing people battle and be sportsmenlike. :D
. I was a bit disappointed with flow's performance
BLASPHEME!!!!!!!!

Anis won this battle for sure. Even if he wasn't pushing himself to his fullest he was still better then Danny.
Danny seemed to be trying stuff he cant always land which always hypes the battle tho.
It comes down to who had the strongest and most crowd pleasing performance imo.

First of all this wasn't a battle between just Anis and Danny. But a huge battle at the FMS Loopkicks Gathering. Second of all it wasn't a snapu for those of you who don't know. Danny can snapu mad good...duh!! He was trying to throw the 540 gyro hook. That comment about Anis being able to do anything Danny can do and not the other way around. WOW!! JUST!! WOW!! Anis...love you bro but seriously people. Lets see Anis go head to head with Danny in a kicking battle just because Anis can "do everything that Danny does." Not to say that Anis wont learn how to because the motherfucker learns too damn fast. Haha, but yeah. He can not out kick Danny so the jury is gonna disregard that comment.
:wicked:Oh yeah..my name is Willie B and I'm a pro. LMAO!!!!
I don't think Danny is much better at trick* kicking than Anis...if at all. Probably about the same imo.
*Keep in mind Danny has a nice sidekick and core kicking skills...While I have never seen Anis's sidekick.

good battle but i hate the way the disrespect each other not cool

Dec-26-07, 10:38 AM
i look at the skills they throw, if they even land it, the combos, if there consistant which refers back to if they landed it
edit:
MAD close cause danny hits some good combos but some of them he stalls through(cosistant factor) and he falls a lot welll like 3 or 4 times maybe(consistant factor again)
anis messed up once(consistant factor) he did get at danny with the double btwist
i think anis won just cause his consistancy and how clean he was on his trick etc etc but like... i see what willie B is saying if anything make them actually battle 1 on 1 without taking videos from another time shit is so close of a battle though
