These are the basic techniques that I already know. I made a little manual of them ^_^

Basic Roll: First, you are going to step with the leg if you are going to roll on your right side. You then put your right arm in front of you to protect your head. Your head should be close to one of your arm pits. Then flip your right shoulder across your back to your left butt cheek. After that you should have flipped over, and landed in a somewhat crouched position. Arch your back!

Dive Roll: Start to Jump from or over where you are doing it. When you take off, you want to make sure you’re parallel to the ground. Once you start falling, put your hands out so when you fall you won’t hit your head. From this point it’s like the basic roll. Go from your right shoulder to your left butt check and land

Lazy Rail: Approaching a stable rail at an angle and place one hand on the rail to stabilize yourself and then swing your legs over. Replace your stabilizing hand you’re your other hand and push away from the rail. When you start learning lazy rail, you want to get in the habit of landing on the balls of your feet and bending your knees to nullify the impact resistance. Slowly move up with height only when completely confident. Any height up to 6 feet will want to be landed with a roll. Be careful!

Front Hand Spring: Get a running start, a small jog, then arch your back downward and Put your hands flat on the ground and push off with them using the muscles you’ve developed from training as a Grappling Acrobat. It’s very important to push off or else you’ll land on your back. Bring your feet around and land as best you can, you want to make your feet springy in the land; this will come over time.

Cartwheel: With one of your feet in front of the other, you want to kick off the floor with your back foot and arch towards the ground. Place your hands flat on the ground and with your back foot in the air, push off with your other foot and twist your body. With both feet in the air, you’ll look like you’re doing a hand stand. You then want to land with your back facing in the direction that your face was.

Back Hand Spring: Squat down, but keep your torso up and bring your arms back steadily so that they’re ready for launch. Then lean back and let your arms lead your body by raising the over your head and towards the sky. Then twist your body so that your hands touch the ground and push off the ground with your hands. Get feet together and drop your legs down. Try to land springy.

Round-Off Back Hand-Spring: This is a combination of the Cartwheel and Back Hand Spring. It’s best to get a running start, so run and perform a Cartwheel. Without stopping, proceed to a back hand spring. Use your momentum to lead you along, but don’t over compensate, just treat it like they are separate only you are doing them together.

I don't really see the point of making this, but anyway: :good:

When you do a BHS, and, please don't kill me for saying this, but; make the MLM-sign with your hands. I have a friend who is a gymnast, and she once told me to keep my arms bent when I asked for advice on my backhandsprings. (when you're making a triangle with your hands when you're doing a BHS you are forcing yourself to do bend your arms a little, which gives more power in it.) Just look at Fosse's backhandsprings and you'll see what I mean.

I've always been a bit confused about the hand placements for cartwheels. How exactly is the "proper" way to place the hands by means of direction?

I've been wondering about that for a while too. Maybe some of the tumblers on this forum knows...

Yeah, i'm gunna pull this apart a little bit...

Basic roll:- What kind of roll are we talking about here?? Forwards?? Backwards?? Teddybear?? Seriously there is more to it than a basic roll. If your doing a proper roll then your feet should start together, if your break rolling then yeah, one foot goes in front of the other. And have you ever tried arching your back in a roll?? It bloody hurts because you end up landing flat on your back when you should be curving it so you roll nicely.

Dive roll- Wtf??? The person that uses this technique needs to get their head checked!!! A dive roll should be similar to a forward roll, except your jumping for height and reaching as far forward as you can so that both hands go on the floor at the same time. No way do you want to be rolling over your shoulder!!!

Lazy rail- I don't know what the hell they are so meh.

Front handspring- *smacks head with hand* why the fuck do so many people think you should arch your back????!!!! You really really don't. Your supposed to keep your back as straight as possible so that you don't land with you feet right next to your hands. And pushing off with your hands is always a good thing.

Cartwheel- go and watch a kid in the playground do a cartwheel(actually don't, you'll get arrested), but they have a better idea about it than you. And for hand placement, think foot-hand-hand-foot. One hand goes after the other.

Backhandspring- erm...where do i start??? You don't really squat down, the whole idea is that you fall into it with your knees slighlty bent, pushing BACKWARDS off you toes. You don't throw you arms up, you take your arms backwards with you past your ears to put them on the floor. You shouldn't really need to push off the ground with your arms, the momentum of the movement should bring your upper body upright once you've landed. And twisting???? Where the hell is there a twist in a bhs???

Roff bhs- For a start a roff is not a cartwheel. If your doing a bhs out of a cartwheel it is generally slower and you go over with split legs, landing one foot after the other. Artistic gymnast use this on the beam. You're not even describing the technique, you're just saying what you're seeing... you may aswell have put a roundoff double back tutorial in there too saying 'do a roundoff, then do two consecutive flips whilst in the air then land', its not really helpful to anyone im afraid!

The whole post was a little... well, this sums it up:

...... *cries!*

this flies over my head, since the only kind of bar I can reach is the one at a playground. HOWEVER, I really do appreciate the information. ^^ Danke schon, amigo!

A round off and a cartwheel are not the same thing.
