I can't sideswipe haha, but to me, it looks like you're going straight into the kick without jumping too much, or stalling.

looks fine to me man.
you could stall the kick though to get more inverted.
Experiment with arching your back too :good:

Don't throw your body down like you are now.

Jan-12-08, 03:01 PM
what do you mean by throwing my body down ???
Skilzat85X
Jan-12-08, 03:04 PM
As and after you jump, I notice your arm pulls down and your head gets thrown down. What I mean by it is exactly what I say, your upper body drops after/as you kick cause it seems when you're turning over your sorta pulling yourself down. Just try to keep yourself up and let your hips and kick fly over you, instead of pulling yourself under it.

What in the wild nigg...
Kind of looks like a swipeknife :good:
Don't try to encourage him telling him that his shit attempt (which is perfectly fine, it was his first one, I'd love for my first sideswipe to look like that) is something that it's not. That's how we get kids hurting themselves, and cocky ass tricksters. Call a spade a fucking spade for fucks sake. You're not helping anyone.
Great attempt, you're not too far off. Skilz has it right, your chest is coming down. What I would suggest it to really throw that first knee high and up and really try to get your hips as high as you can. Keep it up though, experiement with it a bit and you should have it sooner than later.

Wow. I just said it looked like a swipeknife which is a cool move. I didn't tell him anything technical about his attempt. Are you cranky from your period or something?

This is misleading.
It creates the illusion that something that barely resembles something of a higher level is actually being done instead of what is being done in reality. You're making him think "oh this looks like this, this means I can do them both, score!"
Your lowering the standards of an already established trick, basically.
A swipeknife looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7RVGkf7nxo even if not done as well, the general execution is still the same. It doesn't look like what he did at all, even if what he did wasn't inherently bad, you still grossly mislabeled it.
Don't take it personally. This sort of thing is frustrating cause it happens a lot. Stuff like swipeknifes, or especially snapuswipes; people are constantly screwing them over and doing something that really isn't them, but then people are like "ooo sick snapu" or whatever which then lowers the standards of whatever trick, quite unacceptably in my humble opinion.

Notice how I said "Kind". That doesn't mean it looks a lot like one.

It doesn't look like one AT ALL ahah.

Then I'll just look at some swipeknifes from very experienced tricksters and delete my comment.
reminds me of a gms
And look what this guy said.

Jan-12-08, 04:58 PM
...I can't really say anything to that.
lol
You don't have to delete your comment mang, it's a learning experience! I believe all of us here are in a constant state of learning new things. All of us, me, you, everyone here! We're constantly readjusting our thinking and taking in new knowledge and comparing it with what we already know, thus helping refine our techniques and attitudes towards certain things for our own betterment. :juji:

Okay. But I'm pretty sure broertjetim knows alot about tricks and won't get sucked into those types of comments.

damn almost a swipekinfe.

Don't begin to justify it with that. All you're doing right now is covering your ass. I've said very similar things to what you've said a long time ago, and I learnt that it is wrong to do so. What I said was not a personal attack, and was directed both at your comment as well as the gms comment, although I only quoted yours. NOW it is a personal message to you. Grow up, and call a spade a spade.

For fucksakes. The reason why I posted the fucking comment in the first place is because his non kicking leg was straighter than other sideswipes I have seen. Because it was pretty straight, it looked like a kick. And since I act pretty much on impulse, I didn't really look at the video a couple more times and posted the comment because from what I have seen, it looked like a swipeknife.
I know it isn't because in order for it to be a swipeknife, there has to be a hook kick. And because I now looked over it a couple of times, I didn't see a hook kick and I know that it isn't a swipeknife.
And I'm sorry that I think differently than normal people like you and that my logic might be different. I'm sorry that I have a.s. and that I try to convince myself that it won't affect me as much but it does to a point where I can only realise what I have said after it happened. Well guess what? That's the way I am and I can't help it. It's people like you who cause me stress and force myself to take things alot more lightly. So think about that before you fucking tell me to grow up.

thanks reim. My reply would have had more swearing, alot more references to black people and possibly someones mother.
I think now this will just suffice:
ITS NOT A SWIPEKNIFE. Its a sideswipe. END.
there would be a humongous difference if it was a swipeknife.
by the way, just becuase you have a straight leg on something doesnt mean you're throwing a kick, otherwise that'd mean that if you did a 360 with the other leg straight you'd probably be calling it a 360 double, and every time someone did a c9 you'd say "WOW MAN! straighten that first kick out some more and you'd be doing a c9 quadrupleloolol!" when there is no intention of kicking before the final round kick.

You took off with your body a little too upright imo. This is personal preference, but when I sideswipe, I like to take off with my head about even with my hips if not a little lower, and then as I take off, I really push with my hips almost like a hip thrust to get my height out of the move.

I know. Even thought it slightly looks like one, it isn't.

I disagree. I think his head should start going down before he even leaves the ground.

Well...the head should start going down before he leaves the ground, but definately not after he leaves the ground.

For the topic in general, THIS is a sidewipe. Well, it is if you ignore the second kick ahah, which is easy since Terada clearly distinguishes each individual kick in his technique. But yea, Terada has probably the best example for sideswipes ever.

To be honest, you don't need to dip your head down at all. Well, in principle. When your first leaning, it probably helps...
EDIT: Btw THAT is what a Swipeknife looks like, clear spotting of the target and proper kick extension and cutting across the target, not just oh look my leg got stuck up in the air.
Your welcome tricker_d. I have taught you a valuable life lesson in the nicest way possible. And I forgive you for all your wrong doings. Now go in peace to love and serve the tricks.
