View Full Version : Pull-up bars
Ok guys, at long last I broke my old pull-up bar. Which is fine, because I'm going back to school soon. But I figured if I get a new one I might as well get one that I can use in my dorm. Obviously I can't use one with screw-in brackets, b/c the resident director would flip, soo a quick search on the internet later, and I've found a few different kinds on amazon such as this. (http://www.amazon.com/Power-Bar-Exercise-Door-Chin/dp/B00119ZKBS/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1200539134&sr=8-14) But I was wondering if any of you guys had any opinions or recommendations. My only two special requirements is that it doesn't mar or otherwise leave permanent changes to the door so I can use it in campus, and that I can use it with the door open (it would be difficult to do levers through solid asbestos).
man, I gotta get out of the publicus more often, I feel so awkward...:square:

This one looks good though i haven't used it so i cant say much but it doesn't need any screws and wouldn't leave any marks, best i could find to fit your description.

You could always look around your accomodation or local area for existing places to do pullups.
well at my house there is nothing, and at campus there is one I can think of, only problem being that if the campus police saw me there they'd arrest me for climbing on campus buildings. Well, I do that anyway, but not on a daily basis. Anyways, it shouldn't be too expensive...

I like how they say the maximum weight of the chinup bar is 300lbs, but lets not forget, what's more important is how much weight the door frame can handle.
Well, the door frames are those cheap heavy-duty industrial metal doors surrounded by cinder block and asbestos, so I hope it'll be fine...

My door frame is made out of polystyrene combined with a wall made from flower. They make things tough in france.

Can't you do them on an open door?
Do what on an empty door?
