540 restart

Ey =) I've always been doing 540's like an inside crescent kick, but when i attemped a jack knife, I found it quite hard turning the hips all over, so today I decided to totally rewamp my 540/c7 in a more round kick way to make it more hook'able. Any tips would be much appereciated! :smile:

you dont necessarily need to change your 540 from an inside cresc to do jacknifes.

its just alot harder, however you're more likely to do two better kicks this way.

after watching the video, you're just not ready to be throwing jacknifes. At the moment you're not getting enough rotation on the kick to be able to throw the 2nd one.

you're also underrotating the 540 hook, you can get a good kick on there im sure but you have to wait longer before you kick.

Hey Andy! Yea i know it can be done the other way, I do a few jackie's in the sampler we made ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7WlKEkj_9Y <-- my jackknives) but i dont come entirely around, thats why i want to change em. Okay, so i should wait like a quater turn before kicking on the c7? I'll try that tomorrow :) Regarding the 540, how do i get enough rotation so i can hook it?

its just practise to be honest.

Once you can 540 without any real effort and you have total control over your upper body, and you can come out of it completely upright with plenty of time to land, then work on spotting your target, then as the kick has gone past the target, start to rotate the upper body to catch up with the leg. Its not easy by any means, but if you work at it more an more you can a sweet jacknife.

Okay, will do! To be honest, I HAVE been neglecting the 540 abit, not drilling it enough. But that i will change! And btw, nice jackknife! although the last kick could come out a little earlier, before you hit the ground, but thats just my preference, it looks nice anyway :) and what entertaining cop stories you have, haha
