View Full Version : Eating shit on corks.... twice.
Yo I went out and tried my first corks the other day at the gym and they turned out like this.
http://www.clanlph.com/tricking/Cork%20Attempts.wmv
The last one actually hurt quite a bit and i heard my shoulder/neck crack. Is there anyway to try these without like totally smashing into the ground. I mean I see the dude coming but by the time I get around I'm like 6 inches from it = (
Any advice? Were your guys' first corks like this as well?

ouchh.... nah my first corks were not like that , one the guys i trained with kept telling me my moonkick was to low , always he would say its too low... too low. then i started soaring on them and my moonkicks were fucking huge. then he told me to try i cork. my first attempts i landed on my knees not from lack of height buy lack of rotation. dude seriously just keep drilling your moonkick.

I would say keep your legs together and holds your arms to your chest to make you rotate faster.

Kick your right leg up higher, and harder. Also stall before you wrap.

For the type of cork it looks like youre going for, it shouldn't really be a big dash into it and throw everything up type move, it's really precise and they come out looking good when you can take all the little parts of the move and put them together correctly. The problem for now is your setup.
You need to play around with the angle you run into the cork at. You sort of have an idea, but your not transferring the momentum correctly at all. That's why you don't go up and land in the same spot, etc. You're counteracting the momentum, and it's pretty easy to spot because you're trying to spin in one direction, but your body as a whole is going in another one. Watch corks from people like Simon, Teddy, etc closely to observe the right change of momentum in the run-up for the cork. People who can do corks perfect after taking one little leg stride into it, get it that way because of an understanding of how the momentum changes from running forward and to the side into going directly upwards into the air.
If you can put it all together, it's not a very scary trick to bail and you wont have to worry about seeing the ground 2 seconds before your nose is in it. It's obvious in your arms that your rushing it and trying too much to just chuck it. Youre one arm doesn't really do any reaching at all and you kind of just elbow downwards with it, while the other one is similar. You need to smoothely reach upwards and across to your left shoulder.
Another highly important thing with doing corks is where your hips and waist are, your center of gravity. Everything revolves around it and if it goes high, then the entire trick will too. Look at your back on the takeoff, it's almost hunched as your leg swings up, another momentum counteraction. You have to be somewhat leaned back as your leg is swinging on the takeoff to get your center of gravity up in the air. This is also why you aren't perfectly horizontal and pretty looking. The moment that you decide toj erk the shoulders and start twisting hard should be at RELATIVELY the same time that your waist has rose to around the same level as your head or shoulder area.
It can be hard at first but just try to put it all together. Analyze

it seems that you're moving at the same dirretion where you point the leg first, if this is happening it means that you need to turn your body a little by more, your twist will be much easer to control and it wont break at the end.
