I'm currently doing a starting strength routine 3 days a week on mon, wed, and friday. Would it be okay if I did jump exercises like jumping, pistols, squats on the balls of my feet, and bodyweight jump squats on the off days?

Sure. What the hell is a squat on the ball of your feet supposed to do though?

Yeah just donig pistols won't help your jump either. Anyway, if you trick on yor off days, that might be unnecessary, am i wrong here?

It works my calves and ankled pretty good. Same technique as an average squat but your just on the balls of your feet.

It's usually advised that you do not squat on the balls of your feet.

Why don't you do a calf raise? That works calves too. What the heck does a squat on your toes have to do with jumping? A jump that starts on the toes isn't going up very far.

Words cannot describe the idiocy of this thread.

I haven't trained specifically for my vertical jump in over three years and I got it measured last week at 32" from a standing position.
Do some movement efficiency work and plyometric movements before your weight training if you are not engaged in any sport (this includes tricking).
What is your bodyweight and how much do you squat? Seeing as you're on a novice routine getting stronger will up your vertical if everything else stays constant.

Why would you squat on the balls of your feet? That doesn't do anything except make the exercise harder.

I do calf raises. Jumping calf raises actually. Another thing I do is one-legged jump calf raises where the leg bends about 100 degrees. And honken how am I an idiot for thinking up my own exercises that work certain muscles of the body that I want to develope?

Because squatting on the balls of your feet is nothing but stupid. Training your calves? Static holds with medium intensity for the muscle group that has the least function in a three point extension movement seems incredibly pointless. Do heavy calf raises, that's it. Name one jump, no, activity that demands power where you stand on the balls of your feet for a prolonged time before jumping?

And for the record I was mostly referring to lastmanstanding.

You have been a real bitch lately Honken.

So I just do weighted squats, calf raises, and bodyweight jump squats then?

Ah. Thanks I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I still think Honken is a cool guy. He also happens to be right in most cases.

Guys, don't hate, understand.
I am inclined to agree Honken, you've been edgy and pretty grouchy as of late.
