Hey,
When I try to side flip, I land facing where I take off, like the end position of a 180 front flip and I have no idea why.
I've been trying to correct it for months and I've gotten it right about 2/10000 times.
Thought someone here might know why.
Thanx.

Is like an aerial but you tuck your leg.

I know.
I know how to do it and all.
I was just wondering what could cause someone to rotate an extra 90 degrees instead of staying sideways the whole time.

So if you were to put your hands down while doing the flip, it would be a roundoff with bent legs right?
Which means you shouldn't turn your hips as you flip over.

Whenever I rotate it's because I keep my torso horizontal (like a doubleleg). My advice would be to make sure your body's pointed downward, but if you're already doing that then I've got nothing.
that happens alot when i tuck in front(shins)
usually when i tuck behind (thighs) i go round without a rotation to it :good: give it a go

This happens to me a lot..just try to keep your body from turning as much as you can while you flip...the reason I land backwards is because I kind've turn my head.

just make sure you pick an object and look at it for the entire move. If you just worry about your head, the rest of your body will follow. this works best if you are inside. Pick a wall and punch while facing that wall. then never stop looking at the wall.

The way I fix this problem is to remember to throw my arm over my ear during the jump and then just turn sideways and tuck. If I just throw my arms across(yeah I dont know how to explain this very well or at all for that matter)I end up doing a Front half or some shit like that.

Landing like that isn't so bad in a sideflip.

NO. A sideflip is alot different. A tucked aerial is actually called a tucked aerial.

My mind froze up when reading this lol.

An aerial is nothing like a sideflip. And aerial is just a cartwheel without hands, you just let your legs go over you. A sideflip is actually a sideflip.

Landing backwards isnt all that bad in a sideflip...for an example, you could try a sideflip to a backflip..I've done this before..and I find sometimes with a sideflip I don't land steady enough and I usually tip sideways when I land, so landing backwards gives me a more solid landing.

See there's a good flipping combo right there! You could even try x-outs, flash kicks, back fulls, and other variations after the sideflip.

Might be turning one of your shoulders after youve got in the air? or maybe youve jumped, tucked for the flip and then youve looked for the floor in a way that has caused your body to turn slightly.
