makes sense since websters started from aerial variation.

No, its a front aerial. You should know that. An aerial is technically a cartwheel aerial, this is a front walkover aerial.....womens gymnastics, everyone knows that.

this is why it looks so effortless: she stalls until her kicking leg is at its full extent. she's also obviously very flexible.
notice she also only tucks that one leg

there is still a difference in websters and front aerials, even in tricking

Only because people started tucking their websters without changing the name.

I call those tuck websters, personally.

BUT THIS IS A TRICKING FORUM, NOT A GYMNASTICS FORUM!!11111

IF SOMEONE DID A WINDMILL FROM BREAKDANCING HERE, WE DEFINITELY WOULDN'T CALL IT A WINDMILL.

IF SOMEONE DID A BACKHANDSPRING WE DEFINITELY WOULDN'T CALL IT A BACKHANDSPRING EITHER.

OH WAIT

Yes, because as we all know, tricking terminology makes perfect sense. I mean, a cheat 720 actually rotates only 360 degrees, so it's perfectly logical to call it cheat 720. And, as for gymnastics terminology, you're right it's quite lame. I mean, what's the point of calling "triple fulltwist" a flip with three rotations in it?

Actually, the terms I use make perfect sense. A 720 = 720 degree jumpspin with a kick, a 540hook = a 540 degree spin (including a 180 degree landing crescent) with a hook taken off of one leg (your cheat720.), 1080 = a 1080 spin with a kick, 720twist = double btwist, cheat720twist = a double btwist taken off of the other leg, from a cheat/540 setup.

I think tricks terms make perfect sense.

The only terminology that makes sense is Eddy Wang terminology. Who wants to see me swang true my flying bird kick?

Well, a 720 only has like 630/540 degrees of aerial rotation in it, depends on how you do it. A 720 degree spin and an outside kick would be more like a BS1080 underrotated by like 45 degrees.

jan
Feb-03-08, 05:05 PM
I don't really use the backside terminology. It's just pop tricks with 180 degrees less. So a "backside 1080" would simply be a 900 hook. A backside 900 would just be a 720 round. For some reason though, I've always called the cheat720 a 540hook, and the "backside 720" a.k.a. 540 hook a cheat720. That's just my personal preference/flaw anyways.

LOLz. I never meant for anyone to get into this debate lol! I was originally just saying "wow, look at that front aerial, so effortless, floaty, immense, if we slow it down, we might learn something from it etc." But no.....it has lead to this......why!!!!!!!!!!!

jan
Feb-04-08, 04:43 AM
Because you originally said "aerials", then edited your post to "front" aerial. Terms matter to some.

Haha that's weird Jan. It's not the original terminology, and it's not like the "true kick" terminology either. Anyway, a while ago, a wise man said "Degree terminology doesn't matter, as long as it looks good!" and I agree with him. ^___^

... unless you're cheating 270 degrees off a 1080 and call it a 1260 because you did a roundhouse kick at the end. Which is exactly what a lot of people do.

the thing is..when do u start counting when u actually throw the kick or when u take from the jump off cuz most would saying when u actually kick and then the numbers of degrees would be off.

I still can't believe that so many still can't understand when jan explains...and he have explained it so many friggin times...the degree counting makes perfect sense and it does count amount of spins you do god damn it...I can't understand what's so hard to get

Well, it's weird but most people are used to it. And I wouldn't like changing terminology now that I'm used to this.

A perfect 900 should be taken off facing -> way, spin 720 degrees, do a roundhouse kick, then land facing <- way. Like Kim Do does in the Kim Do and Chris D. compilation vid which Locke got stickied.

A 1080 would be taken off -> way, spin 900 degrees, launch the kick ->, rotate another 180 and land.

Say if you're facing this screen when you're about to do a 1080. You take off facing to the right (stomach facing your right side). Then you spin a 720 spin in the air. When this spin is done, you're still facing to your right (from a front view of the screen). Now, you're spinning about 270 degrees more, which would make you face diagonally to your left side. You launch a wheel/hook kick, and you land facing to your right again.

Recap: You take off from your right. You spin 2.8 times, kick, spin the extra 0.2 degree rotation (often while the non-kicking leg is just about to, or is touching the ground) and land facing to your right again. You've just done a 1080.

Same applies to all other moves.

gfull dismount ftw!

Bertie
Feb-05-08, 01:41 AM
That was pretty cool. I've seen them do so many things for dismount, like full in, gainer triple full, full in piked, but I've never seen them dismount with a double double (except for on asymestrics). Lol, I even saw a guy do a triple twisting double back layout off high bar, and someone did back in double full out, that was pretty immense. has anyone seen a girl do a double double for dismount on bb?

Ir is definitly a front aerial, not a webster, theres a slight difference.
