Hi!

I was looking up some stretches in the Flexibility section and noticed that the isometrics described by Juji are not the same as the ones Kurz describes.

According to Kurz (which is Juji's main source) you should tense at the greatest stretch while Juju tells you to back off slightly and then tense. What difference does this make and which one is the more effective one?

Thank you!

Back off slightly or you'll be in a world of hurt. It's not like you can tense all that much in your furthest reach anyhow.

They might be saying the same thing actually. Kurz always talks about "painless maximum". Juji could be saying that you should get to when it is a little painful, then back off a bit - getting you to your painless max. Maybe. You're better off under-doing it than over-doing it anyway.

It's probably not all that different Kurz works with more conservative people (like old people, martial artists, etc) who probably don't stretch mega-far so stretching at the 'end' of their RoM makes sense.

Juji makes a site for trickers who are very young and enthusiastic and might overstretch, so he says to back off.
