What you think about parkour? I am not sure did David Belle have that strenght without gym? I think that parkour develops strenght, condition, great jumps, flexibility. What is your opinion about parkour?

I do straight Parkour, and I will be started tricking relatively soon seperately. I use Parkour as a way to condition my body, I've done it in the smart guys way to condition my ankles and knees, it's given me a stronger core and a lot more of a sense of balance too.

Although if I was someone who done tricking, I wouldn't stick to doing Parkour to condition your body, it'd be too much impact on the joints to do both. It would be much better to do Parkour once in a while and mainly stick to weight conditioning.

It's for kids who can't flip.

Haha, what a closed minded idiotic statement, I do parkour, and I can flip :]

"Swimming, cycling, football, tennis...it's for kids who can't flip, what else can I say".

It's like me saying "Tricking, for kids who can't afford capoiera and gymnastics classes". And before you say shit I know tricking isn't just capoiera and gymnastics, I was doing an idiot statement haha.

Neither Parkour or Tricking in themselves are good for direct physical conditioning.
They do have some impact.

However, those two sports in themselves require conditioning. To that end, getting conditioned for Parkour or Tricking is what helps them, and so, the best method of conditioning is simply that: conditioning. Training to gain the specific abilities you need (strength, power, flexibility, etc) through whatever method or exercise which specifically has an effect on whatever it is.

@Skippy, you should not be nervous if Counterfeld Soda doesn't know some things you can explain him! What you think is parkour bad for knees,bones...?

Conditioning for parkour in terms of the cardiovascular system is ostensibly indistinguishable from practicing the activity itself. The basic premise is to keep moving on your own two feet after all, which is just another way to say you better be running.

Parkour although high on impact, will only bust up your knees if you do it incorrectly.

If you whore doing drops onto concrete, doing big roof gaps and improper landings with precision techniques, then yeah you're going to mess yourself up. However if for the first year or two, you stick to doing it with very little drops and plenty of repetition work of each technique you use then you will condition yourself by doing it, and in turn develop stronger joints, better landings and a stronger base for when you start advancing to higher levels of it.

I do think Parkour is bad for your knees, if you dive in and you're an idiot.

But if you do it the right way like how the original founders did, and make sure you stretch and warm up properly, then you will be fine.

Additional conditioning always helps though.

All your warning against is acute injuries. In the long run, parkour is indisputably "bad" for your knees, as is running.

I'm doing about things to do with joint problems, not things like getting cuts on your arm.

Parkour is something that if done correctly, you can strengthen everything over time, but if you do it wrongly like you see so many in so many videos of it then you will no doubt about it fuck yourself up. My friend Nick, has been doing parkour now for 5 years, and has never had one problem, has also never done any conditioning that wasn't in the form of parkour. Daniel Ilabaca famed as possibly the uk's best didn't do conditioning until like the last 6 months and his conditioning isn't anything big (albeit, he does a few press ups here and there), he's been doing Freerunning now for about 6 and a half years, and has never had any problems in any of his joints. Asides from an ankle problem at one point, but thats because he fell down his stairs and badly sprained it haha.

6 and a half years is a fair amount of time to be doing parkour, but i think that chic was talking about damaging your joints in the longer run than that.

When youre young, you can do shit to your body and still be athletic and energized and crap. I mean, you could get up out of bed without stretching and probably be fine instantly going into semi-intense physical activity without a warm-up. When you get older though your body isn't as pliable or easily warmed up. In the longer run, the pounding on the joints of running and parkour can take their toll. (I think)

That being said, I am a hardcore runner, and I love parkour as well haha

The long run is like 30 years.

I think it looks impresive but only when profecionals do it. I wouldn't like to do it, it looks like it would get boring after a few weeks of doing it because all you are doing is jumping off things but with tricking there are loads of different tricks to do and you can do loads of different combos.
Profecional or not tricking still looks great!

I think doing Parkour in a gym is kinda pointless. Everything is nice and soft, you should be getting used to doing it outside, because that's really the point.

Depends on an outsiders point of view, really. As a tricker, i love the look of boxcutters, or a c9. But most people find jumping from roof to roof much more impressive.

People suck. Period.

Before I start, note that I was (mostly) joking about my statement. But as for pure parkour, I've seen nothing that is very impresive to me, the vast majority of "skills" I've seen from it are things that I'd been able to do for fun since my mid-teen years without any real practicing other than fucking around.
