Sudrunk Monkey

I threw my back whilst running. I did a full mile, rested a bit, did several exercises (pushups, kip-ups, planches, handstand pushups), and then I tried to sprint an extra lap. 3/4 of the way through, my backed stiffened and now it's been bad since. I have not worked out at all since then (this was Monday). My back is better today, tho, I can do some things but I'm NOT working out until Im better.
Tuesday night: I went to the dojo with no plans of doing anything rigorous (and I didn't). I did forms decently, and I even performed my competition kata well. By the middle of the class, my back was feeling way better and I could at least kick above my waist (not rigorously, of course).
Here's the thing I found interesting: we did sparring with padded swords. Rule is: if you cut the arms and legs, the person loses those body parts. Lose them all, fight on knees and stick sword in armpit. If hit on head, match is over.
When I fought, I did not move around a lot. My classmates are like ALL OVER the place or whatnot. Me, I pretty much stayed calm and did not move around much 'cause I didn't want to cause any more pain to my back. So, I instead remained cautious and careful. I won 2 matches. at the end of the 2nd match, my partner tried to throw-spear the sword at me. I dinnut move and the sword missed.
Can an injury really make you want to be that careful? I kinda felt cool when I worked with my hurt back; I was more careful and strategic.
What do ya'll think?
