this question concerns if i know i'm going to miss a day during my cycle. Should I do that days workout on the previous day, or should i do it on a rest day?

for example, here is my schedule (i'm not going to go into immense detail) :

monday- rest
tuesday- trick
wednesday- lower body pull
thursday- upper body pull
friday- lower body push
saturday- upper body push
sunday- rest

now i'm going to be missing saturday this week because I'm going to be out of town. Should I do that days work on friday or should i do it on sunday and consider saturday my rest day for that week or should i just skip it all together??

thanks!!!!

Do that which suits you best. It sounds easy when said but you'll have to weigh the pros with the cons and simply make a decision.

out of curiosity, why have you split lower body into push pull? what exercises do you do?

I find that funny. Some people don't workout at all and some are concerned over one day. Since it's on your mind, maybe you should do ahead of time and know that you did it, so that you can relax on saturday.

I never understood why people always split upper body into push pull but never split lower body into it giving the upper body twice as much volume. Why not split it?

haha, well it's because I know me and if I miss a day then I'll start getting lazy and start skipping days more often

edit:: so should I just do the day i missed on another rest day?

Do it on Sunday, obviously, and take Saturday as a rest day since you'll be out of town.

Personally, I'd reorder your schedule anyways:

Monday - rest
Tuesday - trick
Wednesday - lower body pull
Thursday - upper body push
Friday - rest
Saturday - lower body push
Sunday - upper body pull

okay, that actually works really well, because we might be switching our tricking days to fridays, so i'll just rest tuesday

also, on my rest days should I be doing some sort of cardio, like running/biking/heavy bag work, or should I leave them as strictly rest days?

No strenuous physical activity and leave at least one day completely free of activity.

I never understood why people always split upper body into push pull but never split lower body into it giving the upper body twice as much volume. Why not split it?

Because it's hard to completely seperate the muscle groups used for pushing and those used for pulling with the lower body. Squats, lunges, step-ups, etc are pushing, but definately work your glutes and hamstrings. Not really the same when it comes to most upper body lifts.

That's why I don't split my lower body days.

That makes no sense.

By definition, if you're dividing the lower body into pushes and pulls, you're separating by movement patterns, not muscle groups. Consequently, there exists a clear delineation:

Push: squat, lunge, bulgarian split squat, step-up, etc.
Pull: deadlift, clean, snatch, good morning, pull-through, etc.

It's synonymous with quad vs. hip dominance, where the word "quad" really just denotes that a lot more action is happening over the knee joint than the hip joint.

okay, so for example:

monday: nothing
tuesday: trick
wednesday:lower body pull
thursday: upper body pull
friday: bike/running/bag work (15-20 minutes on each)
saturday: lower body push
sunday: upper body push

sound good?

edit:: for friday thats what I'd like to do timewise, running will probably be in that range, biking might be a bit less like 10-15, and bag work i haven't figured out yet
