View Full Version : Frontflips - Better Landings?

Well I finally learn a frontflip a while ago (like about an hour ago) but I am having trouble sticking my landings.

I know, just learned a frontflip:worry: What a loser, but I thought it was hard but I come to find out that I was just doing it wrong. I was putting my hands in front of me which caused me to go into a front handspring whenever I tried a frontflip.

Now I can do it but still land off balance. I put my hands above my head now which gives me better balance but still have a bad landing.

Any advice on how to make a landings better?

Combine these simple two things and voila.

the thing about the frontflip is that the landing is blind.

i dont think there is one thing u can do to stick ur landing 100%. for me, a lot of it is feel. so i think u need just a bit more time. thats all i can say without a video

Practice is the only thing that can get you the timing and feel for landing a frontflip.

I am just going to practice it more and try to jump higher. I have the problem of not using my toes to jump high enough. I just need to time my jumping and landing right. Thanks Goldvision. I do tend to almost hit my head when I do it so jumping is what I need to do.

Sure there is, drill it, and drill it properly. Front tucks are something that probably 95% of the trickers out there do horribly wrong and shitty. Seriously, so many people think they can do a front tuck, but they're just throwing their body forward, tucking and barely making it onto their feet. If people learned how to get a good solid punch, learned how to use their arms properly, and learned how to get a nice tight and quick tuck, it would look so much better, and actually be able to combo it.

A proper front tuck should be easy to stick. If you're doing it properly, you should be coming out of your tuck at about head height.

95% is abit of an over exageration maybe... Proper nice looking front tuck are easy.

I may not do hight front tucks on grass, but I can do good ones on like a gym floor...

I could go on forever about front tucks, but the BIGGEST thing i should point out is the timing of my arms, as my feet hit the ground, most people raise there arms about a second before that, other than that jsut view the technique yourself, if you can't tell, it is grass I am on

note that I have also done about 300 front tuck-stepouts on plyo so that really helped

you don't need to use arms to fronttuck

I know, but if you are looking to learn a front flip you don't want to try it with your hands in your pockets haha!
