How is that a necessity? In the practical sense, a kick should be quick. Holding it in place isn't gonna add any additional pwn4g3 to the deal.

Not stalled, I mean holding the kick out argh. It just makes them a lot prettier, and that's the purpose of kicks (In taekwondo and karate, I dunno about other martial arts)
