"...Brown rice and old fashioned oats are great grains; Sweet potatoes are a godsend and dry beans (not canned, cook them yourself) are good. Beans have a scary amount of fiber, and fiber rules. Haha. I think it's best to limit your intake of most other grains though. Limit wheat like breads and pasta when dieting for fat loss. If you eat bread, WHOLE GRAIN - as rough as you can get..."
I was just reading through Juji's 2P Weaponizing tactics again and came across this. What is it about wheat/bread/pasta that is bad for fat loss when other carbohydrates like potatoes, oats, and brown rice are ok?

It's not so much related to fat loss, but breads and pastas are generally much more processed than the other foods Juji mentioned.
Try and eat as close to natural as possible.

Alright, so if I'm eating the very unprocessed, whole grain breads and pastas that I do, it's no problem? Although for fat loss they should probably be consumed a little less.

For fat loss you will be consuming less calories, so yes.
Even the less processed breads and pastas still go through a relatively large amount of processing, in comparison to fruits, vegetables, rice, lentils, beans etc...
But it's hardly worth worrying about. Just make sure you buy good quality "low" processed breads and pastas and you'll be fine.
I agree. Eating less is a good way to lose weight. Although consider that your body needs foods that make up calories for energy, and if you're trying to build muscle, not to cut out a reasonable diet that includes a bit of proteins.
On the point about wheat bread, there isn't harm in eating it as long as you don't eat a lot. A couple of slices in the morning or throughout the day isn't bad. I mean, it is slices of bread, nothing hard to work off. Not to mention the act of digestion will actually burn calories. That is generally why eating wheat is better. It accounts for a small percentage of caloric usage throughout the day (assuming you eat it).
During calorie maintenance or slight energy plus, I get quite alot of carbs from bread. The thing about bread is that it is pretty calorie dense and does not fill as much. I reckon alot of people here can go on eating alot of slices of bread in one sitting before actually feeling satiated.
Another thing is what people have on their bread. It's not just the bread that is the "culprit" but some can for example, throw on a massive slab of butter and several slices of cheese which ups the energy content on that particular piece of bread.

Thanks for the info guys. Has anyone ever tried sprouted grains bread? Ezekiel makes some good ones. Their "Men's Bread" is especially good toasted with peanut butter.

I eat crisp bread if I want some real rough stuff. Generally I just go for unsweetened alternatives.

I used to hear about 'Ezekiel' bread all the time. Apparently it's very good quality, but also expensive from what I hear. I haven't seen it sold in Australia though.

Hahahaha. Indeed it is, hence my additional reading of it.

Yeah, compleks, it is a bit more expensive than regular bread. I've always seen it in the freezer section of the natural foods part of the grocery. It doesn't go great with things like sandwiches because it is so rough, IMO. I mainly use it for tasty peanut butter toast breakfasts. In this way I think it lasts long enough for the price. Worth a try at least.
Juji must be plotting something.
