View Full Version : Need help with my j-step gainer (vid)
I did my first attemtps of the j-step gainer in this video. All round, tricking wasn't great that day, I wasn't landing my regular gainers, and I've never really been able to stick my backsaults. Advice on any of the tricks would be great,

yeah, GET EXCITED! you just looked tired.
really get a j-step. that was more of a sleepy curved walk up. BLOCK the kicking leg, PLANT the non, SWING the kicking leg, POPwith the non, and follow through.
those were less attempts and more ideas. REALLY go for it bro! best of luck.
Thanks a lot for the tute man, that's a really in-depth description, very helpful! So what you're saying is that I have to step out wider on the step before the takeoff, and then hop on a 45 degree angle? In my attempts, am I only doing the last step right, or am I not doing it right at all?
Yo, just got your reply too peterh, thanks for the tips!

Alright stop. You don't even have a backflip down. Why are you bothering with gainers. Granted, you're close to landing them but I think you're rushing the whole thing a bit. Get your standing tuck down comfortably then go after it again. Take one step at a time. It's good to try new things all the time of course but in this case you need to slow down.
Nice juggling though haha.

You could go straight.
Like a gainer should go.

Are you saying j-step takeoff gainers aren't gainers?

No.
I am saying a gainer is a backflip moving forward. So then go forward.. It's obvious.. why cheat and make it easier by going sideways.. ewww

He's still rotating straight back. The only thing going sideways is his takeoff. Whatever point you're trying to make doesn't even pertain to what he's doing.

Yes it does.
Gainer moves forward. j-step moves sideways.
So you're doing a backflip moving forward on an angle.. Hmmmm

Are you stupid? When you use a j-setup you don't nessesary go sideways, you can slant the gainer or you can go strait back.
