hi there, im new here so its time to intorduce myself ... im foxy from slovakia and i ve been practising parkour (and some flips) for about 2 years and now im starting with tricking too ,so ill be happy to hear some tips from ya :)

Backflip - this is my old enemy ... i ve learnt it with spotters on grass and could do that ... but by the time it was getting worse and worse and i "achieved" that i have something like bad habit - im not jumping high so now i have problems with backflip from e.g. ankle-heighted base :/ need some tips how to fix it ;) i ve watched lots of vids but i cant just jump high , like i said its something like habit ( maybe that muscle memory - and i need to re-learn it ? )

roundoff backflip - height is ok (it could be better) but i cant rotate "over" my head - when im in the peak of jump i lean a bit sideways and whole trick is something like sideflip - ahh :) i know i should use my hands more, but im still learning it and "forget" to do that in that speed :) see vid

i have some problems with blocking with frontflip, but sideflip makes me no problem on concrete ... im starting with basic kicks and its progressing good , only that damned backflips :dead: need some tips ...and sorry for my english :P thanks ;)

bad day :)

You're main problem is your arms. As awkward as it may be (at first) you HAVE to use your arms in a back tuck. a) It gives you height b) It keeps you straight.

a) After your round off, your feet should hit the ground at about a 45 degree angle. Your legs should be STRAIGHT and TOGETHER. Your arms should also be straight and your shoulders "shrugged" together. When you start to set you reach up and keep yourself tight in the form I just described (straight clenched arms and legs) and keep your head neutral. Don't throw it back or to the sides. Your ear should be orthogonal to the direction you're traveling.
b) The straight factor is that when you have your arms nice and rigid and constantly in that form you will be able to reference parts of your body with your momentum. Like I said, ear orthogonal to direction and shoulders orthogonal etc etc blah blah blah.

The actual rotation doesn't involve the arms. It involves the shoulders and your abs. When you reach your ideal height you keep your shoulders in the same orientation they are in space but you basically thrust your hips into your face. Then once your knees reach the position of your arms then you can tuck in by grabbing your knees. Think of it like doing a crunch or something in mid air. You wanna avoid throwing your arms down when you get up, cause that causes a torque in the opposite direction and don't throw your shoulders back on take off otherwise you'll do some ugly whip thing.

So to fix your back tuck... Arms straight, body as tight as fucking possible, keep your eyes fixed on something, and "crunch" at your maximum height (as fast as you can so you can tuck really tight). Any ways its hard to fix that stuff on grass but just try to keep everything all straight and tightish and I think you'll see an improvement.
