I finally started and I can't do anything. I try to do back flips, b-twists, and aerials. They always end up in failure. For some reason I'm really terrified of doing these tricks and going in the air. I want to get these tricks down so bad and I feel bad that I can't get them...

Help please TT_TT

Work on kicks, they aren't so scary. You need to build up before trying something that you are afraid of. Working on other tricks will build up your confidence and coordination. When you finally get up the courage to try the tricks like backflip or aerial, you'll completely piss them out.

Option number two is just trying the moves. You will realize that they are "all bark and no bite." You will see how much stress the human body is able to withstand and will most likely be impressed.

I can sort of do 540's. They just aren't that high, but the kicks aren't the problem because I do lots of stuff with my feet. Its being in the air. I can see myself doing b-twists and back flips over and over but I bail before I even get to try the trick.

What do you mean by doing stuff with your feet? Unless you are referring to basic martial arts kicks: round, hook, inside outside crescent, front snap...you probably aren't doing things with your feet that will help.

Learn a bkick, without it you will have trouble visualizing a btwist. Learn all the tricks that don't scare you. You could become a really great trickster without doing backflips. Practice other stuff until it is "good" and come back to the scary stuff later, it might not scare you anymore.

Learn 360 crescent, a hella bkick, a nice 540 and awesome tornado kick (all in the same direction preferably). Work on learning scoots, sweeps and really basic martial arts kicks. That should be enough for a while. Just play about with all those and make up cool and creative combos (there are good combos that you could do with those).

Once you feel satisfied with 360, hyper it, make it a feilong. You probably will get restless with those moves anyway and start progressing them on your own. One day you will walk outside and say "dang, bkick is boring...I think I'll twist it," and you will.

Really try to do everything going the same direction. You can get into really annoying situations if you can only do 3/4 of your tricks to the left. Choose a side and really commit to it....it sure would suck to have a nice 900 and not be able to combo it simply because you didn't feel like learning it the same direction as everything else.

So left side it is.

You know?
When I jump up and spin as hard as I can, I spin faster and get more rotations when I spin clock-wise. When I try to go the other way, I get half the rotation, I lose balance in the air and then eat it.

Usually the problem in spinning is the take off, as skilzat taught me. If you end up "eating it" you are going off from vertical. You need to jump straight up, torso and everything going upwards. Just make sure that you go up all the way, extending yourself upwards without any lean. You are going to be going for a simple 180 at this point. Once you feel yourself actually off the ground, you begin the wrap and spin.
Just make sure that you aren't spinning as you leave the ground, wait until you are airborne. Trying to spin too early can make you push off the ground while leaning or something like that. Leave the ground fully, then wrap and spin.

There is no shortcut to learning on your opposite side, it will take lots of effort.
if you feel more comfortable spinning clockwise then thats what you should be doing.

I might disagree. If he is going to be spinning to the right, he should also be doing everything that direction. Just so long as he is doing everything the same way.

Since he seems to be better at going to the left in everything else, I think it would be easier to just learn to spin to the left than to transfer everything to the right.

I live in the North-West part, I think.

Aside from attending gym sessions with us, I recommend to get lots of help and general ideas on Tricking and many basic tricks, you take a gander at the Gudies provided on my website: http://www.justtheskills.com

Having a website is awesome because instead of doing extra work you can just give people a simple link which says everything that you would say again anyways.

And give it time...tricking isn't something that most people pick up on incredibly fast.

That's understandable when you're doing it in front of random people who aren't even doing it themselves but around other tricksters? Don't be silly. Nobody thinks of less of you just because you're new to it.

Also, stop being such a goddamn emo. Your screename and avatar scream it.

Darkr0se I'm reading through this thread now, I'm on page 5 and what the fuck! you're so fucking emo and negative. Quit being such a poncy bitch.

Go out, drill tornados to fuck. I learned how to 540 kick in 6 days to a pretty decent standard (3 tricking sessions), and although I can't really do any other 'cool' tricking moves, I know when I posted my video of it some of the members were a little shocked I learned it so quick. This is because every god damn day I'd do like 50 front kick raises on each leg, 20 outside crescents on each leg, 20 inside crescents, 20 hooks and 20 round kicks. I'd do like 20 Tornado kicks after this each time too, making sure I spotted my target and really snapped my leg into it.

I'd even do things like drilling my cheat set up and drilling how I'd enter it and throw my arms up.

I'm not talented in any way, in fact I find everything reallllllllllllly difficult to learn =\ hell even just simple stuff like pop 360s, I remember my first day I was trying them I would feel like I done everything right but I got no height and my kick was like knee height. Seriously man haha ask K-Slash I sent him my first attempts

But because of the dedication and time I was willing to invest into getting my legs good at kicking, I learned how to 540 relatively faster than most do.

You only get out what you put into tricking, if you go around doing half assed attempts at everything and not taking the mother-fucking-advise-that-people-give-you then you will-not-learn-very-fast.

I've been tricking for about 11 days now, I'm almost nailing b twists, scoot to gainers and pop 720s. This is because at home I am working my ass off to get my body better faster! and when I go out I drill my basics to fuck.

There are people there willing to help you who live near you like skilzat and shit, you will progress veryyyyy-fast-if-you-take-up-this-help.

Bloody drill anyway! drill until you bleeeeeed!

I know this isn't much, but this is what I made in 7 days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkwAI7XhEwA

If you get your act together and dedicate some real time, you could easily do better than that over the next 7 days.

That's a dinky room. Sounds like enough room for a kip up and that's about it. Tricking takes up space and if you plan on trying anything find some more room. Otherwise you'll just hurt yourself or damage shit. Well no, go ahead and do that.

It's not the hours you put in. It's what you do with those hours =\

I'm waiting at the moment until my hamstring is fully healed before I keep doing stretchs and what not because it's just not healing and I don't want to permanently fuck it.

But alls I done in most of my hours was drill basic kicks, round house kicks, crescents, hooks etc. My 'tricking' sessions never usually lasted up to an hour. I usually trick for like an hour and then do some more parkour, I really enjoy parkour and once I've done what I needed to do in the tricking session I don't really see a point in doing it tired and drilling in bad technique, and parkour is something I can do decently well in even if I'm pretty tired.

Then I go home and lift usually lol =\

So yeah, spend your time doing better things like drilling set ups and basic kicks, rather than spending hours doing b kick attempts with bad technique throughout hoping they'll get better or doing 540s with super bent legs all the way through and hoping they'll get better.

Things only improve if you work better technique on them, and if you haven't got the first bits of the technique good, you won't be able to improve the moves on a whole.

Swartz means if you take tricking as seriously as lets say life is, and you keep not improving, you'll always get sad and depressed about it.

And you don't break anything in your room yeah, but you're not really doing much in it. So go to grass, preferably your back garden. Even if its concrete, it's quiet.
