I've been tricking for three years or something..and I never had a problem with my back...but since a couple of months...my lower back hurts when I do tricks that arch my back..like the bhs...

I know I probably should strenghten my back..but I find it a bit weird that I suddenly have this problem..why didn't I get this in the first couple of years that I've been tricking if it was because of a weak lower back..

I'm pretty bummed..because I love bhs's

thanks in advance

I think this will end up being more a flexibility issue than a generally weak back issue.

How is your flexibility? or in fact if you have a video of your back hand springs that'd be alot better, you could be doing something wrong with your technique.

that tells me nothing. whats the mechanism of injury? were you drilling bhs like a mofo one day and then bam all of a sudden you have back pain the next? did it occur the day after a session? this would lead me to believe you pulled/strained something in your lower back. possibly from overuse. i suggest you take a break and stretch out more. try out some of those icy hot patches..shits awesome. i tried them for the tendonitis in my calves and it helped a bunch. good luck man..

It should not be a flexibility issue if the symptoms arise from swaying/arching your back since the muscles are not stretched out in that position. It's more likely that you're compressing something. Check it up with a physiotherapist and be as precise as you can when describing where you feel the pain and when it arises.

I dont know..I think I just didn't do bhs's for a pretty long time..then I did them and the hurting began..

and as rahf said..I dont think it's a flexibility issue ..cause I don't flex my back muscle's when doing a back arching move..I contract them or something..sorry my english isn't that good..

Compressing basically means you're squeezing something together. If you take a piece of paper and squeeze it tight, you've just compressed it.

Compress = comprimeren.

Maybe accumulated small wear and tear, not enough in a single session to do anything but building up, or maybe aggravating something incurred doing something else. If you've been doing more fantastic moves then it could hurt something which is then aggravated doing even basic ones you've been fine with for awhile.

Doctor's a good idea. Ask about traction in case compression is an issue, he can diagnose that.

hypermobility of the spine. weak lowe rback + snapping/arch = compressed vetebra.

see a physio. rest your back, slowly strengthen it.
