Suicide swipe

Hmm where to start is the question i have been asking myself.

I can sideswipe, as well as swipeknife cleanly now. i can also do a very inverted raiz not like ----- [horizontal] but if i choose i can just about throw my legs over my head, now im not completely inverted like a gainer from a cheat take off but im pretty damn close. my question to you guys is

should i try to throw the swipe almost like a flashkick from the very inverted gainer, and if i did would that make it a suicide swipe or just something like a g-flash from a cheat set up.

I do this by doing my sideswipe take, but forward. Don't do it like a flash kick, it will fuck your things over. Taking away of the kickieswipeness of your ss. Sorry for the vagueness of tis advise.

Anyways, what you really need to do is try not to pivot that much during your takeoff. Often times with the Sideswipe, one pivots around just like they would a 540, while doing the Sideswipe takeoff of course.

Well, don't do that: don't pivot off your foot. Just turn your chest to the direction of your proverbial "target", then swipe that shizzle down.

Instead of turning or pivoting your body as you takeoff in the Sideswipe, try to instead keep your body oriented in a straight line, it's hard to explain this. I might draw some diagrams later.

i somewhat grasp the idea of what your saying, i originally got the idea of try it like a g flash from a cheat setup from the snapu tut where it showed the diff degrees of kick [540,sideswipe,suicide] anyways diagrams would help a bunch!

Actually, don't fall under the misconception that Raizes/Sideswipes/Suicideswipes/Snapuswipes must be from the Cheat Setup.
You can do it from that if you want, but that's not always as efficient. Plus, if you actually pivot as much as you do in a Cheat Setup, it'll probably hurt your trick...

Just do a step in. It's like a Cheat Setup cause you dig and use one foot, but you don't pivot around like you're going to try to spin or turn sideways. Instead of trying to pivot (this is the setup pivot I'm talking about now, not the takeoff pivot), you step towards the direction you're going/traveling/going to kick in, and dig down in that direction, etc etc etc.

But if your current setup is working well for you, don't abandon it by any means. Most people do the plain ol' step-in setup even if they say they're doing the cheat setup, haha.

okay i understand that part, thanks very much.

but i just one more question that has been getting at me. the kick. would it go across in the same direction as a 540 and sideswipe but travel in a in a front to back motion rather then a side to side? i dont think that was a good why to explain what i meant but it seemed like the best way to get it across.

I get what you mean...

It goes in a back to front motion, similar to a Flash Kick, Aerial Switch, Hyperswipe, Gainer Switch, etc etc.
You can tell because all good Sideswipes are led with the front of the foot, that is to say, if they were hitting a target, the target would be struck with the front of the foot. It's not like a 540 (crescented version) which is led with the inside heel of the foot. Actually, even most 540's with round kicks don't always hit with the front of the foot, seeings as they go around in an arch, and don't cut straight horizontally across like a normal standing round kick.

Of course it can go a little of both ways if you want, but yeeea, just think of swiping down down down to the ground ground ground.
In the physical position a Sideswipe (or especially Suicideswipe) puts you in, it's slower and probably more strainfull to try to pull your leg across sideways to lead with the inside heel, whereas it's quite naturally just to swipe it straight down. Yeno yeno?

Again, this is another thing most people do without thinking about it, hurray!
