Lol, I have the same problem. My parents don't know.
Only once, my fathre saw me doing an aerial in the sand. He was like, Oh my god you can hurt you or break you something, be careful when you do this thing.
I think I should not show him my first backflip attempt. He would fucking kill me.
:punched:
However, I think I would have to show the mone day...

my mom has been fully supportive of my tricking since i was 16/17..im 23 now.
Often when i am watching myself doing backflips or backhandsprings and other shit on pc my mom see's it and she think it's very cool and that it's good that i am in some kind of sporting activity. She doesn't worry much cause i can count on my fingers how many times i have crashed a backflip and she have never seen me crashing.
Both my parents know that I trick and they think it's great !
They obs tell me to be careful ect.

My parents think its cool, my dad watches samplers with me sometimes.
One thing my mum doesn't like about tricking is me going on this website, she thinks it's some kind of suicide website and she hates me talking to people online, she gets scared because she thinks that you will all kill me.
I usually try to not tell my parents what i do. They knew about be tricking but i would rather they not. Then they found out about my youtube account and saw my sampler and showed it to everyone they know and I had to deal with lots of comments of danger and worry from my grandparents.
Now my father keeps asking me when I am going to make another sampler, but It kind of makes me want to create a new youtube account.

Ban you from tricking? You're fucking 18 years old man. If they're really that anal about it or you don't have the balls to just laugh at them if they "ban" you from it, then just don't say anything. That simple.

My family members know I do acrobatics involving kicks twists flips etc and that there's a community for it but that's it. It's been known from the start, I didn't exactly go around doing it in secret or whatever like some of you apparently do. They never gave me shit about hurting myself either or whatever.

Sure we did... that is, until they banned me from tricking and I was forced to kill them.
Now, I trick at the cemetery for two reasons, as a recurring "fuck you, I do what I want" and because they have really nice grass.

My parents know and don't care to much. When I show them some video of me trying to trick there like, "Oh, that's cool hun."
Although when my dad sees me practicing basic kicks and stuff he always gets disappointed in me because I quit karate. He asks why I don't just go back to karate, haha. You guys prolly think it's stupid that I quit to though.

My parents are the same way. Except I didn't quit karate because I wanted to, my parents couldn't afford my brown belt test and they just took me out. THEN, 2 years later they wanted me to go back and try again. I said, "No."
My parents know and I show them my vids all the time. My mom worries about it a lot, but she's grown used to the fact that I do stuff and don't really get injured doing it. She knows I get injured doing other stupid shit, like running on grass during a storm. My dad is pretty supportive, but he's always reminding me not to get hurt. He does like it when I improve stuff though.

Jul-03-08, 02:53 PM
My mum is actually pretty fit in tricking terminology since I sometimes tell her I learned or improved xy, and she's like yeah cool, what is it and I explain it to her. Next time when I tell her I improved zx and ask her if she knew what I mean she just says, "of course, how dumb do you expect me to be", or "sure do I know what hyper means" :D
So yeah, they are basically positive towards tricking, since they realized that it's not that dangerous at all.

My parents have known all along (how long would it be before they notice the grass is dying, and all the dents in the ground lol), mind you I only started a month ago.
But my parents have been really supportive, especially my dad. He shows me off to his friends like some new gadget he's bought.
e.g:
Some guy is like, 'yeah I just bought the best golf clubs available'.
My Dad is like, 'But can your son do this?' lol
Gotta love parents. If they tell you not to hurt yourself just thank them and tell them you might consider their advice :P

*does aerial*
"Larry what are you doing, are you doing cartwheels with no hands again"

"It's ok" *walks into another room* "So what was Larry doing?" "I have no idea"
I mean sure in this situation your parents doesn't know it's TRICKING, but it's not like you can do it without them noticing.

"yeah"
"Are you a gymnast?"

"are you taking drugs?"

First off....
Most tricksters aren't bitches and therefore don't need to go to the gym to trick.
Secondly....
Unless you go to gatherings there is no reason your parents would know that your involved with some kind of national community that have a common interest in MAT.
and Lastly...
All you have to do so they don't notice is be like the general teen in todays society. Just have little communication with your parents and go elsewhere to trick thats not within visible sight... Its not that hard to keep tricking obscure to parents. I mean unless you are the kind of person who tells your mommy and daddy everything

So your saying that you didn't mean your post about how it is absurd that parents wouldn't know there child was tricking? I fail to see a point in you even posting in that case. Was it supposed to be sarcasm because i failed to see where you were joking.

Skippy
Jul-03-08, 09:25 PM
Easy there, it was a half serious post, I just thought you took it a little over seriously.
In general though in a more serious manner, I would think most parents would know their son had these kind of acrobatic skills unless the tricker intentionally tried to stop their parents from knowing.
But along your comment of just being a general teenager, I guess you're right, I mean in that situation I could only imagine a parent to find out if they were like "oh so what did you do today?" "Tricking" "Whats that?" "Oh like backflips and kicks and stuff, kinda like martial arts and gymnastics"

My parents use to worry about me heaps when i did it, they didnt stop me though. They were like be careful, don't break your neck. Now since i've been doing it for a while they kinda trust me, my dad thinks its pretty cool since he did TKD.
He loves the 540 kick. He watches me every now and then when i trick out the back, and he gives me the thumbs down or thumbs up depending how it looked lol.

I envy everyone who has a father that supports one's tricking :depressed:
First off if you have good grades or have a job and are working hard (easier said than done I know), parents can't really argue.
My Dad supports me and we are really close, but in all fairness, I support him with what he likes doing too. I'm quite happy to play the sports he does with him or join in with his hobbies and as a results he is more than happy to support me in return. You'll be surprised how more interested your parents will become when you involve them and give them some credit for your progress, it makes them feel good.
I'm sure its not that simple for some people and I'm sorry about that, but I do really appreciate the relationship I have with my parents.....even if my mum has to warn me to not land my head every single time I leave the house lol.
