I've been without any kind of protein supplements for about well, since I started lifting again like 7 weeks ago haha. Used up the last of my protein on the body weight training I was doing before it, and I've recently ran out of creatine.
I usually struggle with getting in good calories each day, since my family isn't the richest and we can't afford to keep up with bigger loads of shopping for more caloric needs, so I've decided a good weight gainer will help me immensely, I recently stumbled upon this:
http://www.taitshealth.co.uk/scpro/taits/products/prodimages/mammoth_2500111.jpg
Interactive Mammoth 2500:
Specifically designed for the hard gainer or individual looking for a product to help them gain weight and strength fast - look no further than Mammoth 2500™. The name says it all!
Typical values per 4 scoops:
Protein 50g
Carbohydrates 152g
Calories 970
The product isn't expensive at all either, 4.4kg for £49 (about $70 I imagine). I just got paid today, and I could go out and get this today. It's name part of "2500" is apparently due to if you take two servings a day, that totals up to 2500 calories. So I'd probably only be on one serving a day haha.
More info can be found on it if you scroll down here =]

Anyway more main kinda question, do you think this is a good weight gainer or could I find a better and cheaper one?
I'm not in the know in the world of products made for weight gaining. This one just seemed to have a lot more for its money than other weight gainers I've saw.

"With quality ingedients jammed into each bottle"
They forget to list the quality ingredients...
Most weight gainers are packed full of shit. I'm sure this one is no different. If you feel that it will benefit you in your current situation, then maybe it's worth a try.
Work out how many servings you will get from each tub, and how much each serving will cost you. Don't go buying it until you know the numbers. I would also look to find a list of ingredients.

The main purpose for the weight gainer is its overall like, a much cheaper source for my calories haha. But I'll check them out now.

The egg protein worried me a little bit for some reason, but overall, I mean I don't think the ingredients look bad by any means, however I'd really value your opinion.

Shut the fuck up and eat food Skippy. That crap is not a "cheaper" alternative. Who wants to just drink shit all day anyway?

Haha Swarts, this is cheaper for me whether you accept it or not. My mother simply can't afford to keep up with the cost of the food I was eating to keep my calories up since I started lifting (it's just me and my mum and we are farrrr from being well-off financially to any extent haha), and most of my pay I get from work will be going towards when I move to Bristol after this week, so this week is the time I buy some supplemental supplies.
This is not a replacement man, it's just something to make sure I don't turn all skeletony. I've made good gains since I started and don't want to risk going back into boney stages haha.
I managed to email quite a number of ameteur bodybuilders over the last 2-3 days and checked my replies just now, about 5 of the 20 I emailed had used this product I posted and told me they still use it now.
That's pretty much good enough for me I think, but if anyone has anything to add it'd be very much appreciated.
This is not a gainer, this is a meal replacement product (MRP). Also, the dose is immense. Is it really that hard for you to just eat more?

Did you manage to work out how many servings are in a tub, and how much each serving will cost you?
How many calories do you need each day while bulking?
Obviously real food would be preferable, but I won't pretend to understand your current situation.
I might even cut that serving (4 scoops) by half. Maybe have two half servings a day if you still struggle to get enough calories.

If you want to save money you could mix your own weight gainer. It could be something like this:
800g whey
800g milk of soy protein
2kg malto
1kg of dextro
If you buy cheap brands you can get 4,6 kilos of this self-made gainer (call it Seismosaurus 5000) in something like 40 euros(32£ I'm assuming that things cost about the same in England as in Finland). You can use that money to buy creatine and magnesium.
Or beer. It has a lot of calories. Even some vitamins.
Or whatever you desire.
And I really don't think you need 2500 extra calories/ day.

Per 100g you have:
Calories------------412.8
Protein-------------21.3
Carbohydrates----64.7
Fats----------------7.7
For £40 you can get 4400g of the product, or 44 of the above amounts. That's 90p per 100g.
Things that you can get for 90p:
> 412.8 calories of this product
> about 9000 calories of milk (70p/litre whole milk)
> well over 4000 calories of oats (70p/kilo)
> ~600 calories of eggs, more if you get shit eggs
> about 200g of cheap cuts of beef, so about 4-500cals.
If you want to save money then buy real food - its almost always cheaper than stuff like this. Very cheap whey is in fact cheaper than the cheapest whole-foods, per gram of protein, but apart from that you'd save money just buying milk and oats. Which are pretty good for gaining weight btw.

As a little update: I went around to the store where I buy my shizzle from, they had the mammoth 2500 in stock. They also had another weight gainer, called Atlas <insert name here>.
This store is very reliable, my father went to it for like 10 years on the run and told me when I was younger that if I ever got into bodybuilding to go to this place.
So anyway, I was checking out this mammoth when a dude from the shop came over, talked to me a bit. I introduced myself, he said he knew my dad, shown me some photos from his wallet of him and my dad standing with some random bodybuilding dude from a show thing they went to. So I trusted this guy right away, he was also pretty big.
We examined the products and he said he personally used the Atlas one, and shown me how serving wise, nutrition wise and whatever I was getting about twice as much for my money with the atlas one over the mammoth one.
We went through what my normal diets like, how many extra calories I need, he advised some other products and what not to. Really helpful guy, we chatted for about an hour.
He ended up selling me two of these Atlas weightgainer 1.5kg tubs for £14.99 (so basically buy one get one free), because he said if I want to experiment with some products he'd sell me the smaller one for half the price to get me on a good road to finding out what products suit me best and that the two tubs will probably last me 12 or more weeks.
He gave me a small tub of creatine capsules for free too haha. The guy was freakin awesome.
By the way, the servings in the mammoth 2500 are 6 scoops as a serving to get the 2500 calories, the servings in the atlas one is 3 scoops for 1500 calories. The scooper is the same size in each one, plus the atlas thingy was cheaper in each size they sold for. The guy told me that Atlas wasn't really a big advertising brand so a lot of people underestimated it.
I'll possibly make another thread in about 8 weeks time and let you guys know what I think of this product =]

Well with that one you get 1.75 times as much shit, per £. Much better, but as you can see from my last post its not really cheaper than whole food. The guy in the shop sounds decent anyway

That guy didn't have any problems taking in a weight gainer shake every day.
Sometimes I wonder if some of you have ever had to budget in your lives, or ever not been able to buy food you normally eat because you were simply broke.
I say go for it and see how it works for you.

If I don't even have money for real food I'd sell my PC instead of bitching about weight gainers on an internet forum.
