Steroids will give me bitch boobs and sausage-stle six pack which i dont like
You won't have an impressive abdominal "six-pack" for another few years anyway.
To obtain a "six-pack", you need adequate muscle mass and low bodyfat. To build abs, you need to progressively work them like any other muscle. Doing hundreds of situps will do nothing after awhile. I'll get it out of the way right now as well and tell you that how you look in the abdominal region is genetically set in stone and you cannot alter it.

does this mean that if you have a 6 pack, you can't attain an 8-pack?
i was never really sure on how this worked.

I've read somewhere that the role of the abdominals is to prevent spine hyper-extension, so it's supposed to prevent movement, not create it. The guy suggests doing stuff like L-seats and planks over sit-ups and the like. Comments?

If you've seen your abs at a very low bodyfat and with an adequate size to rectus abdominis, then that is how it will look.
Boyer Coe is an example of bad genetics for ab definition.

I would advice you to run a lot to burn some fat off your stomache and then keep on working out your abs, you'll get there;)
I also wouldnt work my abs out more than 4 times a week. Similar to any of your muscels in your body, you need to let it recover.

Shut up, the kid is fourteen years old and has no need or probably does not fulfill any requirements to show off any abs.
Should I attempt to take steroids? What If i take them for one cycle and then gym? Will effects be made/lost/worth it. Infos, gym nimphos.

Boyer is pretty cool, most ripped non-abs guy I ever saw.
Some girls don't like abs though and might prefer that smooth look, I think it's neat.

Hmmmm, i never understood the "must have washboard abs!" obsession.
So long as your core is strong and you're not hauling a keg i really don't understand why you'd want your core to be so ripped. Unless ofcourse you're looking at entering contests where you are rated on physical appearance rather than athletic condition.
I guess what i'm saying is are your abs affecting your performance at all? do they NEED to be stronger? do you have trouble controlling your rotation and balance? If yes, by all means, lots of core exercises.
If no then the best advice to you has already been given. how your abs "look" with low BF% will never change, no matter how strong they are, some people have godawful looking abs, some people have incredibly flat abs. As for that six-pack, it's not really something that occurs over a few months of core exercises, my Obliques and Abs perfectly apt at what i need them to do in tricking, martial arts and physical labor but don't in the slightest look like a "men's health" model set.
tl;dr = wuts yer motivation, laddy? :pirate:

Anyone who says they wouldn't want nice abs is an idiot. I would like them, but don't care enough to train just for aesthetic purposes... however the strength benefits would actually help a lot, i just cbf :eh: MORE TRICKS

Of course everyone would love to have them, but to want it to the point of focusing alot of your energy on obtaining it just feels stupid. Unless you're achieving it for a purpose (modeling job, bodybuilding contest etc).
Yeah I agree! As my post sort of implied I guess. I'm way too lazy to do any sort of training which takes excessive time and doesn't benefit my main goals [trick related] primarily.

Strength benefits? Most that have six packs are far too concerned about how good they look as opposed to having a midsection of raw strength and power.
I can see a trickster wanting to achieve a low body fat just because of the relative strength required but other than that I see no point. Just do windmills and bent presses until your head falls off.

haha i'll admit. my 6 pack is a by-product of my lifestyle (opposed to me chasing it)-->this goes for other martial artists/trickers i've met as well. in any case, it definately doesnt hurt. i dont think there's anything wrong with caring about your looks..as long as its not overly-emphasized. i.e. as long as you avoid cockiness, being vein..conceited..self-centered...generall any type of complex that allows you to think youre better than someone.

Not really. If you like how they look, it's really not that much different than getting a certain haircut because you think it looks good, wearing certain clothes, etc. I happen to want a six pack personally, and I'll be honest, it's not at all because I want a stronger stomach, it's already plenty strong enough for what I do, I just like how my abs look when they are visible and defined.

Yes, but not just spinal hyper-extension. And, l-sits and planks are pretty low on the list of good exercises.

They think ripped abdominals instantly mean more women.I don't think it is just this, a lot of guys just want to be GAR and that's what abs are. Muscle in general is very neat, especially if you have been rather fat before, it is nice to touch yourself and feel hard firm definitions rather than something that gives way and moves aside than fat does. It makes you feel confident and stable.

There is always wanting that, I don't think anyone is entirely without sexual motivations, though for many they lie more in the unconscious than the conscious. Some are closer to asexuality than others, where the desire for this takes less predominance, and simply feeling able to get some is plenty enough that you don't actually feel a desire to go out of your way to get it as a means of validating your feelings.
okayy abs arent just 4 looks
it feels good to know u dont have a weak spot in your stomach, if someones to punch or kick u
from personal experience, i have an 8-10pack, if i dont exercise/workout for about 2-3 weeks, it will go down to a less defined 6pack
its basically all about fat levels
then when i get back into working out, i can fairly easily get the 8-10pack back
by the way, i dont think i can say i have a 10pack
the 10th are never visible, i can only feel them

I have ome ab definition, 6 pack visible in favourable light. I would love a ripped six-pack.
not worth dieting down and losing strength though. I may do it in 4 years time when I'm not a junior anymore, and therefore have no time limit on my powerlifting achievements in the open(age group) arena - will probably do a massive diet, and then compete at 75 for a comp or two, slowly building it back up, trying to maintain the ript abzzzz
i think my ab definition is good enough for now, and certainly isn't stopping me from getting chicks.

To get a six pack its much more about loosing body fat.... you can do 1000s of sit ups and get pretty big abs, but they wont show through.
The best way to get a sick pack is to do squats and cardio! (e.g. run for an hour)
does this mean that if you have a 6 pack, you can't attain an 8-pack?
i was never really sure on how this worked.
yeah.... your genetics define how your abs are made... there is usually tendons or whatever attaching each ab to create the classic 6 pack... however some peoples will have an extra ab... this is also why some peopls abs are offset, maybe with one side higher than the other. So no matter how hard you train you can only make each ab that you genetically have bigger, you cant make more
EDIT: I just realised this is a major time machine! hahahah

yeah to be in some sort of seriousness the only lift i do is squat and for cardio i grapple jiu jitsu and trick and i never do abs, i get commented on how big and defined my abs are all the time.

Maximising growth hormone may also benefit in achieving the 6-pack abdominals whatever. This can mean getting more sleep, lifting with more intensity and bigger muscle groups and decreasing pancreatic insulin release. Like any muscle that you want to train to get bigger you have to progressively overload the muscle, so doing thousands of situps is wasting time, you should train progressively harder exercises, as situps don't require much force production.

Yeah, simply put, if you want a six pack, then I'd like to recommend three exercises:
- Cable crunches
- Captain's Chairs
- Planks
From there, try to keep below 10% body fat at least in order to see some results. My typical ab workout looks like this:
3x Week:
- 4x15 Cable Crunches [If you're feeling daring or you have very underdeveloped abs, increase the weight and drop reps; you want to lift heavy for abs, especially if you're lacking there to begin with)
- 4x12 Captain's Chairs
- 3 sets of 2 minute Planks
That'll do your upper and lower abdominals and your oblique layers as well. Just don't buy into any magazine "10 minute six pack" bullshit: the abs are not exempt from the rules of muscle physiology; doing 1000 crunches isn't going to do shit for you after a certain point. Let me put it this way: would you expect more results for your pecs and delts doing push-ups, or through benching with substantial weight?
Stick to these three exercises, and you'll see results. Most importantly, eat well. A good midsection is the product of nutrition and exercise, not just one or the other.
