I used the search button, YAY4ME
Well I feel like every time I work, I don't get sore enough. I go as close to failure as I can (My bitch ass brother wont spot me). I do recommended set and reps, that I hear around the forum. But I just feel like I could have done more even after a long ass workout.
Any tips please and thanks.
NOTE: I'm not an intelligent workout person

Soreness doesn't mean anything in terms of workout effectiveness.
What is your routine like anyway?

I don't see why you'd want to be sore lol, as long as you're making gains thats all that matters.

Way too much volume on your upper body. Substitue the curls for chins.

I think you need to make a new program and focus on structure and balance. How often do you change exercises? Stay with the same routine for a while, atleast 1-2 months. Trying to record your progress with new exercises too often is hard and makes gradual overload (not sure if that is the correct english term) impossible.

YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL.
YOU SHOULD KNOW.
LOOK AT YOUR WORKOUT LOG.
IF YOU DID SEQUENTIALLY "MORE" FOR THE PAST FEW TRAINING SESSIONS OR BLOCKS, YOU HAVE NOT PLATEAUED.
IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE, CHANGE SOMETHING.
IF YOU DON'T KEEP A WORKOUT LOG, START... OR ELSE. :paranoid:

IF YOU DON'T KEEP A WORKOUT LOG, EITHER START OR DIE.
I'll start =[
dang, I haven't been lifting very long.
edit: I haven't gotten stronger lately, so I'm sure I've plateau'd

Yeah, if you can keep it up. It's good if you change rep schemes or vary you training (to be sure that you are improving).

Haha, I looked through some of my old logs the other day.
Everyone who trains should keep a log if they're serious.

If you are new and you plateaued it shows you know nothing of how a beginner should attack a weight training regimen.

Well I'm not a beginner; I'm just not an intelligent weight lifter.
I started mid summer 2007, and recently with in the last 2 months havent seen much change.

Thus you are a beginner-intermediate and shan't plateau.

What are your lifting numbers? What method did you use to progress? Do you always train to failure or pump?
My workout log is bad, to be honest. I've got my 5x5 program written in MS Word, with all the max lifts per set. Every Friday, I change the weight, and do the same workout with the new weight next week.
And I keep doing that. So I have no idea what I managed to do in all lifts 2 months ago, but I know I'm stronger than before.
Yay, I did an easy 170kg squat today:D Then I failed 180 because I fell forwards (bad technique on that lift). *SOBSOB*

My form was terrible yesterday too Jan. I also seemed to shift the weight to my toes but I didn't lose it :pirate:

Jan, how long have you been squatting? 170 kg for 5 reps sounds awfully impressive.

If you want to be more sore the next day, try chopping your legs off or shooting yourself.

Oh, hell no. I went through a 5x5 routine with 150kg, then I went for 170kg x1 and nailed it. Then I went for 180kg and lost balance. The weight shifted to my toes, and I went "OH FUCKZOR, MY BACK WILL DIE NOW!"
Luckily, I had spotters.

You'll get there.
Maybe if my back would get better, someday I will to.

Good lift, Jan. :good:
Thanks:D It was after about 1 hour of lifting or so. Did 5x5 benchpress, shoulder prehab, 5x5x150kg squats and then the 170kg lift.
