After a session at the gym (gymnastics) I go home and try out what I just practiced, in the grass. When I do, I completely bomb. I can do it pretty good at the gym but when I go try it in my backyard I just crash. Is it a fear factor or fatigue or what? Maybe I’m rushing it? I also have a slow start at the gym too. I have to get a spot or try it on the trampoline a few times before I can go do it on the ground. AH!

Probably fatigue. To test this try your session on grass before you go to the gym. If it improves then you know it is mostly fatigue. If it doesn't you have sand in your vagina.

Maybe you get used to the plyo floors then when you shift to something that eats your jump you fail. I'd do grass first, it'll probably make you temporarily do better when you move to the plyo.

You mentioned you have to try it on the trampoline first before being able to do it immediately afterwards on the floor. How does this time gap compare to the time gap it takes to get home and try it?

Another thing, don't they train on springy floors in those gyms? This absorbs impact and can give some more height if you go into it from a pre-jump right? Maybe you are missing the spring floors?

I bet its because at the gym you have plyo floors so you can do shit much better than on grass

I'm going to assume Its a combo of fear, and use to the safe bouncy floors. But I'm going to tell myself I just need more practice.

The elimination of a surface with "bounce" and general fatigue.
